Who knew that the "GMR" race stood for Gremlin-Mogwai-Race. (Don't get Indy drivers wet. ) Bumper cars.
Who knows . . . maybe there's room for 4 F1 races in the USA. I would go back to Indy for F1 in a heartbeat. And that's coming from someone who was last there for the 2005 Michelin debacle!
Scott Dixon leads the first practice Tuesday. Marco an impressive 5th considering he hasn't raced since last May. He likes this place. https://www.motorsport.com/indycar/news/indy-500-dixon-leads-ganassi-honda-1-2-in-opening-practice/10305999/
Sato uses a tow to go first quick in the afternoon session and Jimmie Johnson goes third . . . . . . . . Say what???? https://www.motorsport.com/indycar/news/indy-500-sato-puts-coyne-on-top-on-day-1-johnson-third/10306066/
it's funny how JJ took the European route to Indycar, only doing road courses or learning them first, when he should have just jumped right into the ovals.
I always figured that J.J. would do much better on ovals than on road courses, so I found his plan for last year to be puzzling. In the end, he should do an Ed Carpenter and only do ovals!

Andretti confirms they are replacing Alexander Rossi with Kyle Kirkwood. https://racer.com/2022/06/01/andretti-autosport-confirms-kirkwood-in-rossi-out-for-2023/
Andretti's loss and AMSP's gain. Rossi absolutely belongs at Ganassi or Penske. I remember when both those teams were chasing him pretty hard just prior to him signing his most recent Andretti contract.
yeah I wonder what happened. more than meets the eye usually particularly with the big teams but Rossi's stock seemed to plummet in the last year or two. I hope AMSP gets its act together and stops acting like a backmarker F1 team re: driver lineups.
Callum Ilott not cleared to drive at Detroit, will be replaced by "super sub" Ferrucci https://racer.com/2022/06/01/ferrucci-to-sub-for-injured-ilott-in-detroit/
Whom among us prefers James Hinchcliffe over Paul Tracy as race analyst? I'll vote for PT. And that doesn't mean I dislike Hinch. IMO Tracy was more fun and wasn't afraid to name names and take prisoners.
IMO Hinch makes Diffey redundant. you have two play by play and one color commentator (Townsend), with PT you had two very colorful commentators
It would be very cool if he did a parade in Stockholm with the car but I doubt it will happen and most people in Sweden don't know about Indycar. Still wonderful for him and this will give him a huge confidence boost; the others had better watch out for him now.
Newgarden puts in an impressive flyer! Pole at Belle Isle. Sato an equally impressive second and his Dale Coyne team mate David Malukas sixth.
