Fake labor? You don't like mechanic much? Why don't you try to install it yourself?

Seems like a very oddly worded question. If you dont trust mechanics, then DIY.

Easy enough to DIY if you are good with your hands

Just don't take your time doing it, or this group will chastise you.

As if we would, 12 months should be enough time

Ha, I made the mistake of mentioning I took my time and did it over the span of three weekends during winter.

It was six years ago but it didn't take long. Undertray off, swung the a/c compressor out the way for better access, undo the flange nuts and and the cat spring clamps and their off. I was surprised how easy it was. I didn't replace studs though.

The studs in the block are known to fail?
Curious as i'm planning on installing a set of Larini headers and cats when they arrive shortly and was already putting together a shopping list of replacement nuts, bolts etc

The studs and nuts are very cheap, lot of stories on here of people drilling out studs- find some ceramic grease for the studs, not copper grease.
You will need the donut joints for the manifold outlet as well.

In theory you could do it in 6 hours. But in my case it took about 20 hours. I had to welt some custom made wrench tools in order to get to some impossible to reach nuts. And thats with a lift.

Good news my friend, 6 years on, no problems. Re-used the old gaskets too. I live by the mantra "if it aint broke don't fix it." It has never let me down. Pulled the g.box on my old 360 to do the sensor. Everyone said do the clutch "while you're in there." Nope, inspected measured the clutch (with a micrometer, not a computer) all good, back in. Still perfect to this day with my friend who bought it from me. Can't go wrong replacing perfectly good parts if you want though.

Cheers, I had gotten the p/n's for the gaskets, donut gasket between header and cat, springs, spacers, nuts and bolts, but hadn't considered the stud. Thanks for the tip.

Nuts for the donut, bolts should be ok. Springs should be ok as big money. Note how far the bolt comes out of the donut nut.
