Quick question, if you were marooned on a desert island and you could only have ONE book to keep you satisfied and content, one that you'd be happy to read over and over again and/or one you'd never tire of seeing the photos which would you pick?

I'd pick the Bible. Thought provoking, interesting stories, and long enough so you'd not have to reread it constantly while you're waiting for rescue!

How about it... The Bible, and not the Lemans Bible or Ferrari Bible ect. The one written by GOD via his people......Tom C was the first to get it.

"Gödel, Escher, Bach" by Douglas Hofstadter - it's so brilliant that "each time I reread a passage, I find something new in it that had escaped me before". Of course it's relatively old so some referenced information is oudated now, but it is still very good food for thoughts.

I think the Bible was a great suggestion, would definitely give you plenty of time to unlock the meaning behind every chapter.

That or a book by Bear Grylls, Man versus Wild. :)

Which author though? My wife said Tolkein. I'm still puzzling. I am a history buff so I might like chatting with Barbara Tuchman...T

I was thinking more about an author which could write any book you want. Who could that be when speaking about our favourite subject here?

The Knowledge book by National Geographic.... covers pretty much all subjects, and provides some good reading along with practical advice - like how to build a boat and forage etc.... also its big enough you could use it as a weapon.
