Hi everyone, New to the forum. I was hoping to get some input from others who have been in similar situation. I currently have a 992 GT3 w/ manual transmission. While I was awaiting deliver of the car, I had placed a deposit last year for future allocation of the F8 spider which will be coming up very soon per my discussion with my SA. My original intention was to keep both; however given very little free time to enjoy the GT3, I think it may be prudent for me to keep one car for enjoyment. I was hoping if anyone here who has gone from a GT3 to F8 can shed some light on their transition, and if any regrets about the move. Also, anyone who owns both cars who can share their thoughts as well. Thanks in advance.
I've driven both and the F8 is a GT compared to the new GT3. Exhaust sound is mind blowing in the GT3 and sucks in the F8. Note I own a F8 and have a GTS coming soon.
A quick search will bring up numerous topics on this exact subject. You will find a lot of discussions by just taking a few minutes to search.
Looking forward to the updated discussion. I want to add a manual to the garage to complement the F8. Not too many new ones to choose from these days outside of a 992 GT3. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
f8 ,if you get the porsche and when u see the f8 on the road you will say should of gotten the f8 its really an amazing vehicle last of its kind
I have had 991.2 GT3 manual and 991.2 RS. The Porsche GT cars are the perfect track/street machine. If not tracking, then much less exciting. F8 is a daily driver exotic. I have lost the P car bug. Partially due to mercenary dealer practices and the fact the the GT cars have attracted a new cadre of racer-poseurs-identity seekers.
You are comparing apples and oranges really. GT3 = track weapon F8 Spider = top down supercar, great for GT cruising *and* track capable Your girlfriend/wife/partner/son/daughter would much rather be picked up in an F8 than a GT3. GT3 is a selfish car. You own it for you. F8 brings joy to many. Just sayin’
I own a Pista and 992 GT3. You cant compare the cars really as they are different. NA engine but 500 hp vs turbo charged and 720 hp. Totally different cars - not saying one is better than the other but... If I could only have one cause money was an issue, Id probably pick the F8 and stretch my budget. If I could only have one and money was not an issue, Id for sure pick the F8. If money wasnt an issue- id for sure have both. This isn't sayin the GT3 isn't a great car- it is. I love mine and enjoy it. But you cant compare it to a Ferrari F8. Totally different league in hp, exotic factor, park in front factor, speed, snap your neck acceleration. The GT3 is a great car in the 200k range and the manual makes it unique and special. Ton of fun to drive around town, obviously a beast on the track. But you sit in an F8 and its just a different world. Keep both if you can but f8 all day any day over the Gt3.
Not sure the spider gives up much at all to the coupe, either in looks or performance. The gain with the HTC is considerable however (just one person’s opinion).
Love Porsches I own a 992 turbo S cab but I also own an F8 Tributo. If I had pick one it would take a nanosecond for me to pick the F8 over the Porsche. A 911 is a 911 is a 911.
GT3 is a great car, it has an incredible handling and a better sound. But to me F8 Spider means emotions. GT3 does not. Sometime perfection is boring
I went from Tributo to Spider. Roof up the difference manifests as a slight feeling of more 'going-on' in the steering and seat of your pants. Tributo is more clinical and a purer drive. Its like someone introduced some static/noise, that you need to learn to filter out, if you move from one to the other, as I did. Roof down is much more noticeable, with good old fashion chassis flex. Its a great sunny day car though, just as long as you have a drivers, if thats your thing! I also have a Huracan Evo RWD, so pretty covered.
Not to speak ill of the Porsches but you came to wrong place to ask the question! my F8 is my daily and I love it
This should be 911 Turbo vs F8. The GT3 is a very pure, always ON, stiff and loud race car. You almost cant relax when behind the wheel. They are amazing, but as stated above, very different cars that would serve a very lucky owner in two very different ways. F8 is very much not as described above. It is much more usable, comfortable, and to me, fun at lower speeds. (both engine and vehicle speed)
I was dropping my daughter off at a friends place earlier this year and I saw an older gent picking up his younger girlfriend for a possibly first date based on the body language. He had a GT3 RS that he was obviously super proud of. The look on her face when she first saw the car was priceless. Hence my earlier comment … And yes, wrong forum to ask this question. Unless of course you wanted a particular answer
Speaking as someone who had a 991 GT3 and a 488, I will say both marques make fantastic cars, but just for different styles and purposes. The GT3 is like a really nice tailored Joseph Aboud suit, maybe even one from a trunk show. It's versatile, won't wrinkle easily, and not fussy, but still makes the person look good. It's something you can wear without feeling too ostentatious. The Ferrari 488 (or F8) is more like a nice Brioni suit, made of fine silk with personalized interior lining that's a bit more high maintenance, and will make you look like you walked out of the pages of the most recent GQ spread. Yes, you can wear it daily, but it will attract more attention (both good and bad) and it will require just a tad bit more care than the Aboud, but for the most part it's worth it if you are sartorially inclined at all. Of course, like all things on car forums, the glib answer is always "both" but if one had to choose, and the person who was choosing was me, I would opt for the Ferrari 6 out of 7 days of the week. YMMV.
I also own the 992 911 TTS cab. I can tell you that the Germans get it right! That car is awesome. But between an F8 and the 911. No contest. The F8 is hands down sexier, faster, and more comfortable. The F8 loses to the 911 4 wheel drive maneuverability. The 911 handles like a dream.
Hope you don’t mind me butting in. I’m in sort of the same boat. Have F8 Spider and 991.2 Targa 4s running 520 bhp. F8 is in a different league probably too much power on the road. 911 can use all the power regularly and great fun. But as for road stance comfort distance F8 all the time. My question I have a fully loaded M4x4 competition coming soon. This will be my DD which for 4 months the 911 has been. Had 911 2 years now. Do I keep the 911? If I do it will mean missed days in F8.
