Thats weird, no? Almost like having a GM car from back in the day completed with performance upgrades at a different facility.

Surprised it bid that high. Such a polarizing look. Unique and 1 of 1? Yes. High msrp doesn't always translate to high resale with very personalized touches.

Plenty of sales. I watch the market for launch specs only but do check every day.

A 3600 mile Speciale sold on BAT on 1/24 for $505k plus fees. Was that a bargain price?

Based on current asking prices, yes it was...and if asking prices remain high, could be that current owners are only fishing, and if no buyer appears, the prices will not necessarily be reduced, instead, those cars would simply be withdrawn from the market...

BaT also shows this sale for a Speciale at $626,000 on 2/18/22 with 4900 miles on it. See if this link works......https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2015-ferrari-458-speciale-10/ So it appears that the seller of the other car was willing to move on and part with it.

    That 1/24/22 car
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2015-ferrari-458-speciale-11/

was a consignment via a dealer, so, the owner had probably arranged what they thought was a good price via the dealer, or the dealer influenced the seller to expect a lower price...could of been some of that occurring that resulted in that car being sold at that price....

When this car sold on BAT I watched the listings of other Speciales increase 50-100k overnight. Others sold for 600+ since and the prices have remained at that level. I seem to remember seeing that blue Speciale from BAT sit for a long time on another site and it had more yellow details such as the fender vents that didn't look very good imo. The changes made brought the $$

This was a low milage example but some would argue that the spec was not overly desirable. Trends do change but some will argue that an alcantara interior is preferred. Some would argue the Italian livery is not the most popular choice. That car also lacked the "functional spec" items that many look for - parking sensors, back up camera, front axle lift. Autotrader, Cars.com, car gurus show most cars now in the high 500s - low 600s and spec and miles often dictate that.

I’d be curious to know what Speciales are Actually moving at… I also watch AT daily and see prices in the 550-625k range, but these are asking prices.
More cars are coming onto the market and I suspect these may move closer to 500k, time will tell.
    Regardless, I’ll be keeping mine.

I would be too. A lot of the cars on the market now have 10-25k price reductions per Car Gurus.

+1 The car market right now is FULL of high asking prices and people thinking that cars that aren't selling are worth price X. Idiots on Instagram all repeating the same unverified information doesn't make it fact. Car brokers aren't going to confirm or deny...they know the inflated price makes their own margin higher on the next sale.

A verified price is much more of an indication.

Ask any Ferrari dealer for the price they would pay to buy your Speciale today (i.e. 'trade value'), then add about 20%, that's probably close the retail market selling price that dealer would expect to receive.

I asked a Ferrari dealer how much they markup a Speciale. I was told 7-10% Does that sound reasonable?

  19. SD455TA

    SD455TA Formula Junior

Probably reasonable but the larger question becomes, how much do they bid down the consignor to get the car and then make the entire spread which could come up to maybe 20%. Some people aren't willing to sell things on their own and are willing to take that haircut to be rid of it. Plus with some in the Ferrari space, they have more money which becomes very meaningless to them. Me, uh uh.

Any update on pricing/cars sold? Many continue to sit for day's unsold online.

Despite what dealers say, market slowed significantly due to economic conditions.

Good to know, always tough to gauge the market on these cars. I want this car but timing seem's a little off. Patients might serve me well.

It gives you time to source out the spec you want, which could take 6 months easily. The guy with selling in days, whats he smoking, I want some....
