MC20 Cielo: the name of the new Maserati spyder is unveiled

Modena, 16 May 2022 – Maserati is ready to showcase another new model: a one-of-a-kind spyder, it will be known as MC20 Cielo. The Global Premiere will be on 25 May.

To coincide with today’s International Day of Light, the Trident Brand reveals the name of a car characterised by a special “Sky Feeling”: after all, it remains a convertible.

MC20 Cielo announces its sporting vocation and its special feature: MC stands for Maserati Corse (‘Racing’); 20 refers to 2020, the year that began the brand’s new era; Cielo (‘sky’) highlights the fact that it is a model devoted to driving pleasure in the great outdoors, while maintaining all the prerogatives of a true super sports car.

The new spyder is a 100% made in Italy model: developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena and produced at the historic plant on Viale Ciro Menotti, as is the coupé.

The new MC20 spyder represents a different concept of performance and a unique driving experience, where all senses are engaged like never before.

Oh....so that is what it meant when I opened the email... the sky theme and day of light.

I received the email/announcement, and didn't know what to make of it

Very nice.........I signed up but never got an email to watch the unveiling (asked my dealership and he said they did not get anything either). Guess they don't do a live stream or video like Ferrari.

That massive trident it totally idiotic, otherwise it's a pretty car. Hope to see it out and about, although I'd take the coupé any time.

Did Maserati just put I giant sticker on the engine cover of a car that will cost $300K? What the hell are they thinking?

    Oh wait....

The panel that moves to hide the roof is the biggest lid I’ve ever seen! Wow. That’s not a negative. Simply an observation. I like this car.

I'm pretty sure the Corvette C8 convertible is bigger.

I really wish they would have cut the logo into the cover instead of a sticker. Seems cheap to me.

The sticker...since it is horizontal you only see up close so I don't find it disruptive. Yes of course cut into the panel would be better.
One Belgian Khamsin owner 20 years ago put a huge sticker on his car's nose like that. A bit much. Chassis 334, his...pet panther (!) can be seen next to it.
He used to take it along for rides, imagine people's reactions:eek::D.

Yes I heard it can get costly. Still I love it and it is a lot better than the ridiculously fiddly bits you have to remove by hand on the 599 Aperta.

Superamerica was like 17 years ago. Now it’s LCD technology so it should (hopefully) be no problem.

Having said that, problems with superamerica roofs only came from the ECU that controls the electrochromic function. They did provoke some permanent delamination problems. Once replaced, no more issue.

I really like the MC20 but the Cielo is fantastic. I decided to go for it and will try to get a primaserie….

I think Maserati crosses the finish line first with this one.

No complaints with the car from me.

A Beautiful car in almost every way.

    Very, very, well done Maserati.
