I hate all team sports. Always refused to participate in them at school. Never watch them, and don't know anything about them. I used to be given free corporate suites tickets by my employer (SHELL), at Arsenal, Tottenham Court Road, Chelsea FC or Queens Park Rangers, and just passed them on. Talk to me about mechanical sports, sailing, skying, and that's about it.
That's not what happened. Brawn couldn't trust Wolff and Lauda, and Wolff especially since he made comments specifically about Brawn that was tape recorded.
I’ve defended Hamilton for years here from the haters, often I’ve asked why so many people dislike him? This jewelry spat is the first time I finally “get it.” My daughters in Soccer (football) had this rule when they were 8 years old. They are there for safety. Period. To imply this is some sort of targeted discrimination toward Hamilton specifically is ludicrous.
Of course, my 'favorite' driver ran to Ham's defense, not only saying it was discrimination against Ham, and decided to present an equally childish protest against standard uniforms. These rules have been in place in all professional sports I know. Then, in an act of ridiculous projection, both say "why can't the FIA focus on more important issues?" EXACTLY, why Ham and Vet? Why can't you wear standard-issue underwear or take your freaking nose ring off? Why do both of you make a big stink/protest about what is an official practice in all professional sports? Vet is the epitome of "if you can't beat them, join em' - I'll give him that.
I'd venture to guess it's not a matter of why, but when. Lewis has had the nose piercing for years, it's always been in the rules it cannot be worn, but no one has ever mentioned/enforced it. I don't believe it is Lewis thinking he is above the rules. Seb saying what he did is more about timing with the new FIA president enforcing this rule, but not others. Other racers wear jewelry and have admitted as such, those same people are also saying they aren't going to go without either, but because Lewis' piercing is visible he's the one being talked about more. Is it on Lewis that he got the piercing in the first place, absolutely. FIA doing something about now after years of allowing it could make it look like they're targeting Lewis.
Yep, it's the timing that looked suspicious to me too. Why having wait for so long before wanting to enforce that rule. It's like when the press have something against a politician, and the judiciary a file on him, but they keep that under weap for years, until they reveal everything at the most embarassing moment for his career. I have seen it many times.
For argument's sake, let's say all the naysayers are correct. Let's agree for now this is all about targeting Lewis specifically. I would then have to logically ask what advantage does the nose ring afford Lewis? I'm not being sarcastic, does the nose ring has some mental, symbolic significance to him? Like Jordan's socks?
Let's assume you're right, this is all about harassing Lewis. My question simply is this. Why then are they also against Magnussen's (wedding ring) and Gasley's (cross)? Perhaps there is some tri-partite connection I missed? If you all can tell me the context behind this cabal that is Anti-Ham-Mag-Gas I'm proud to consider myself open-minded and open to entertaining all evidence.
If anybody can also show me where Mag/Gas made the same or bigger stink too about symbols of religion and legal vows as much as Ham has on his decoration - I'm also happy to see it. As I said, I defended Ham many times here, but with this, I'm starting to see why folks don't 'like' him. I guess when you're getting shamed by Georgie Boy, things frustrate that normally wouldn't. I said it before, it would have been wise for Ham to retire end of 2021 - perfect for his brand. The perpetual victim-champion-goat. Overcoming all adversity, etc. It's cliche' but true - best to quit while on top. It's one thing to be a narcissist when you're champion/winning, people tend to focus on results über alles. You WILL get a pass. It just also works the other way around... see Vettel.
That's kinda obvious isn't? If they are targeting Lewis, they can't appear to be overtly just targeting Lewis now can they.
:not sure if serious: Meh, you said the exact same things a couple season ago with some other Hamilton related storm-in-a-teacup
Anyway, seems like another moral victory for Hamilton... Seemingly the FIA have caved and delays this issue again, lest they continue to look stupid https://racingnews365.com/fia-postpones-contentious-f1-rule-on-jewellery
I mean I do find it to be a stupid rule… not sure not wearing jewelry would have saved senna or Made a difference for Jules Bianchi or to Grosjean’s accident Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think it's reasonable for some sort of rule to be in place, but afters ~15 years of basically no-enforcement suggests a blanket policy is archaic and unnecessarily. Just ban watches, lose chains or anything else though could 'snag' on something in the cockpit or slow and interfere with extraction. Any personal piercings or items worn both under the firesuit/underwear or helmet/balaclava should be left to discretion of the drivers (perhaps in concert with Dr. Ian Roberts or whomever)
Magnussen and Gasly are innocent victims in this: they were thought to ve "good boys, and not object.
Someone at the FIA didn't like the way Hamilton did put a stink about Abu Dhabi, dared to boycott the championship celebrations and asked for Massi' s sacking. Don't forget the FIA has a new president, certainly willing to stamp his authority. It you attack the top, the rest will knowtow, right? So they found a way to confront Hamilton with an obscure regulation which had never been enforced before, because they knew he didn't comply and would react to it. It may also affect a couple of drivers, but he was the main target. Maybe they want to force him out of F1? But surely they want him to bow down and accept their authority. Nobody will ever take that from my mind that someone at the FIA said at one point "We got him now!" I have been around too long not to recognise the uncanny method there: I have seen it many times.
In Miami Button commented how weird it was when he stopped to talk to Ben Sulyem about the race, but he was ranting about jewelry.... I mean, that really says it all for me.
I must admit, I give you a A+ and credit for the quality of your posts and effort you put. I type on the go like a mad man and you make beautiful essays Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
