Only one armed guard? Nope that's not it, as they could be easily taken out with one 50 shot magazine. No they need heavy duty concrete pill boxes behind razor wire, mine fields, with maybe a platoon sized guards. Oh and a tank or two. Yep that makes sense. To crazy people.
16% of all non-disease deaths are shootings: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/injury.htm marginally higher than vehicle accident deaths.

The weapon of choice used in the US mass shootings by a large proportion is the AR15. 45 rounds a minute, muzzle velocity of over 3000FPS for its .223 rounds, if memory serves. The guy could shoot you through a gyprock wall no probs. So, if I am reading the stats right, 79 people have been shot or wounded alone since the school at Uvalde. The outrage didn't have much effect on the loonies with an agenda. One or more shootings a day across the US. WTF For a country like the US an appalling catalogue. I have some good american mates over there whom I love and respect, they are not fools or idiots, surely good people can prevail and get this cycle of death to cease. How does it get to this, schools and hospitals???? What next, the mourners at a cemetery?
It's all pretty silly Murray ..... they won't need to go to war, it'll be in their own back yard, or already is
More shooting today in Tulsa.....230 odd shooting in the US THIS YEAR.. I'm not sure that I will ever travel to The States again ....feeling sad about that , 1st trip was in 1970 and since more than a dozen times ....
Considering the size and population of the US, it's highly unlikely you'll ever run into a problem visiting here. I've lived here all my life and have never been involved with a murder, death, shooting, or even a minor wound due to gun violence. So while the conflict merchants upsell everyone on the fear, the reality is that gun violence is rare and exceptional to any individual or family. As a visitor, you should research the places you're going to visit and avoid those that are teeming with violences and crime. No different than if you're going to Italy or France. In the US, you can easily tell the bad places by the obviously sketchy people roaming the streets. Gang signs are also a "dead" giveaway. Stick to the better parts of the places you visit and you'll never encounter anything even remotely dangerous.
So true John, last trip well over 3,000 miles of driving in summary . San Fran not as I remember the city . NYC good for a week of tourist stuff. Buy the State of Maine and into the States that involve the Autumn trail ....fantastic and safe .Such a clean area of the US.
I love the US too. I just don't get their gun laws. Not saying they have to be like our laws (impossible), they just need to be tightened up. Pretending that they're not an outlier when it comes to mass shootings is ridiculous.
I agree Steve..The place is very insulated..When you watch TV it shows nothing about what’s happening globally including sport…Half the red necks there don’t even know other countries exist..Still love spending time there though..
I drove once from Tuscan to the Grand Canyon via Phoenix/Flagstaff...awesome freeway style drive in V8 Cadillac. Friends we stayed with , wife came along , husband gave her a handgun /pistol to take with us " You need to protect yourself? I just don't get it ..
Got photos of the car somewhere , i hooked onto ute doing 100mph for mile after mile I followed him, my wife thought we were doing 100kph!!
I was just watching the news with my 8 yr old daughter and the latest mass shooting came up. Well not the latest but the recent school shooting and my daughter said did all those kids die Dad, and I said yes Emm. She said how did that happen, I said in America people can just go to a shop and buy a gun and if they are angry and not quite right they can kill people. She looked at me with a shocked face and said we’ll that’s stupid……..
Yep kids have no filter. We are now watching Kindig Customs on Discovery Turbo. Great car resto show!!
