360 Sorting Things out on New (to Me) 360 2002 Spider F1

Do not drive the car until you replace both of those fuel lines. A fuel leak will start a fire. Also inspect the fuel pumps through the inspection ports for any leaks. Any misalignment of the convertible top can cause breaks in the top mechanism. Have it properly sorted out by a Ferrari 360 top specialist. Be aware that a deviation from OEM parts in your header/Cat exhaust system may cause CEL issues along with reducing the number of likely buyers, if you later decide to sell. That really comes into play if you stay the Cat-delete route. Good used Cats/Manifolds are reasonable in price (for Ferrari) and should be installed. I would suggest replacing all 8 Coil Packs if unsure of replacement date. Remove and ultra-sound clean the Fuel Injectors checking the flow rate. All fluids should be drained and refilled.
From the looks and sounds of it, the vehicle was not maintained properly, so the above is a minimum to start. Good luck.

 

@AD170 - Good advice except for the top. Frankly, I don't really think there are any F360 top specialists around, except for the regular F techs. The top itself isn't that mysterious. As the OP discovered, a little common sense tinkering pretty much can solve anything wrong with the top. So as long as it hasn't been damaged by a size 20 photoshoot, it's likely to be easy to fix.

@renrewoguh - I suggest checking all the rams for leakage. The three in the movable part of the top are the usual suspects. Also check the elastic bands that control a lot of the movement in the top. There are 14 of them and they're made of rubber which only has a realistic life of about seven years. A lot of top problems are caused by elastic bands that are shot. These problems can grow too and involve breaking actual, irreplaceable parts. Once you get your capote sorted, it can be very reliable.

Just as a FYI, while the electrical tape over the fuel line might look scary, the rubber part of that line is just a liner to shield a hard line under it where the fuel flows.

The fuel does not flow through the rubber line itself.

To be clear, I'm not advocating for you to run it as is as a slit in the rubber line doesn't mean the hard line under it is compromised but I just wanted to put it out there that a slit in the rubber line doesn't mean the next time you start the car, a ton of pressurized fuel is going to come squirting out of there as there is another line under the rubber.

If it were me, a 2002 car means the line is 20 years old, just replace it.
