I had assumed that the Asseto Fiorano pack would replace the VS versions of production models but there are some suggestions on other threads that the VS models may continue.
I am particularly keen to know if anyone has heard anything about a VS version of the 296.

It kinda makes sense as it seems there will be an SF90 Vs and based on previous model roll-out it makes perfect sense to do a 296 VS. Spoke with my dealer on this and they said its likely but minimum requirement would be a 296

    Thanks.
If there is an SF90 VS I'm sure there will be a 296 VS.

    Correct.Just made the call.
Will try one out this month and then order.Only concern is lack of headroom.
I have asked around in UK and dealers think 296 VS is likely.

List of Ferrari Racing Versions and their road going versions:

    360 GTC - 360 Challenge Stradale
    430 GTC - 430 Scuderia
    458 GT3/E - 458 Speciale
    488 GT3/E - 488 Pista
296 GT3 - there is no reason to NOT have a Lightweight, track oriented car....

so yes there will be a VS (or however it will be called by then)

    Agreed.
Assuming it does happen the really interesting question is will it be hybrid.I am guessing it will have to be but am hoping it will not be.

Of course it will be a hybrid. Otherwise it would be slower than the base car.

Unfortunately I cant attend our local track event with the car - but will drive it early July.

I configured one with the CF race seats - this may help you with headroom BTW. 99.9% sure I will just order one.

I think you are probably right but we know the GT3 is not(and I get the regulation point) so it will be interesting to see if the 296 Challenge is hybrid.
If not there must be a chance that 296 VS will not be.

No idea about challenge. Probably not. But all road going Ferraris are going to be hybrids now and then eventually electrics. Except for maybe a few super one offs.

Challenge will not be hybrid as the new GT3 also isn't hybrid.
Hybrid doesn't fly with FIA regulations.

Challenge cars don't have to abide by FIA regulations though.

I’d imagine there’s no reason for the challenge cars to be hybrid and they won’t be. They crash. They’ll be cheaper and easier to fix if they aren’t hybrids.

Its not only costs, but time and complexity of the setup.

Anyway anyone here actually spent some time with the 296?

Did that and note your last comment "
Two weeks from now I should drive the 296 more extensively in Italy, so hopefully I will find out how to drive it properly ;)
    "

I will do so in 4 weeks time.

true, but the batteries are a serious health issue on any track and thus no battery on the Challenge.

I actually race in a cheap series, because I do care about the costs... my comment was just ironically assuming people racing with Ferrari are beyond such trivial concerns.

    Touche.
But as I do race with Challenge series, the costs do matter unless you own Google/Apple/an Oil field.
Compared to other car makers Ferrari's are very expensive to run on the track.
