I have just received the latest information on the 8C Addendum, and it says that finally 1,250 copies have been printed. They increased the circulation.

Interesting, 1250 copies is more than any of the previous editions. Where did you pick up that information?

I was in contact with Simon Moore to try to get a copy of The Magnificent Monopostos (mad idea :() and he answered very kindly and sent me the latest update of the Addendum flyer (_V5).

Now here's a brand new Ferrari book that's a little out of left field.

However, when you think about it it's an official Ferrari publication, limited edition to 5,000 copies worldwide, covers a specific model not yet covered by any other Ferrari book as yet, features information about Ferrari design and it's designer....it's the LEGO Ferrari Daytona SP3 book entitled: The Sense of Perfection.

It's a hardcover, slipcased supplement to the all new LEGO Ferrari Daytona SP3 model that's just been released.

Here's a review on the book...

The book sold out around the world within an hour (take that Simon Kidston :)) , I've got one on the way together with the LEGO model.

Can't wait for them both to arrive.

Not so... did you read the book review ?

"Part two covers the design of the real car, including interviews with key people in Ferrari and, while it is interesting, it's the next three parts of the book that are most fascinating...."

Yeah, that made me sad. I was busy all morning and forgot all about it, so lost out. I'll pick up the model at some point...wondering if I want to wait for a used one, or before the rumored price jump in August.

I'd jump on eBay. There are a few sellers around that bought purely to on sell, unfortunately at a considerable profit.

That's a bit of a shame for people who buy the model and can't get the book. Usually the instructions of these kits are full of details about the car but you don't get them with the Daytona kit. I mean, when you buy a lego kit for several hundreds euros, you expect some kind of content like that.

I won't complain as I received my kit courtesy of Lego, but still... Anyway, the kit is amazing, about 20 hours of building fun (be carefull reading the gearbox instructions) and once finished, it's truly amazing to look at.

We had the same idea ;-) I counted almost 50 sellers at eBay, almost all offers at ridiculously high prices. But that is (unfortunately) how the business goes: Many people just bought the book not because they are Ferrari fans, but because they aim at heavy profit.

I'd give it a few weeks for the hype to die down and hopefully then the book prices will drop.

They made 5,000 copies so not super rare.

These guys usually do very good books. Personally, I'd opt for the poor mans edition.

The book was recently sold for EUR 149,-. Today you buy it, with a different cover and 3 autographs for EUR 450,-. This is wonderful for the publisher, but I consider it a complete nonsense. It's a nice publication, but to me the EUR 149,- subscription price (and I bought it for that price) seemed already steep for what it is. Call me a skinflint or whatever, but this is the way I see it.

With just 56 copies I don't think they'll make a lot of money. The books are now all sold so only the standard limited edition remaince.

EUR 450,- X 56 = EUR 25.200,- Not that bad for a few extra books.

That's pretty shortsighted. Sportfahrer Verlag will probably give 10 copies to buisiness relations. Then there's the cost of the signee's, I'm sure they didn't do it for free. Extra printing and binding. Designing and producing a new slipcase and last but not least free shipping.

That beeing said I sure hope they make a lot of money, that way they will be able to keep producing books for a limited market.

Shortsighted? A publisher will always order more book blocks from the printers than needed for the edition (in case of damaged goods, review copies for magazines etc). Printing extra copies does not cost much. Signing 56 copies, maybe EUR 1000,- per head. Design does not need to cost a lot these days as everything is done on an Apple. My poor man's copy was also shipped free of charge. These super expensive 'editions', that do not offer anything other than a few autographs and a different cover, are just not worth it.

I am not sure, but I think I read somewhere that for 30,000 USD you can order Ferrari to paint a racing stripe on the bonnet of your SF90. Well, when the owner think it is worth it, then it is worth it and perfectly OK. Same goes for limited books.
