    Is it me or are many races this year having very little support races? Baku was F1 and F2. Canada is F1 only and no other support races at all on the program? I'd be a bit annoyed if I was going to see a race and there's so little to do...

    Ferrari Challenge is there and probably some others. In the past the schedule is usually fairly full.

    The old days were thick with support races in Montreal and most of them were very entertaining.

    Gen 1 Civics rolling over each other every lap, F1600s and small displacement sedan/sports car battles throughout the weekend prior to bikes and then 348s.

    I believe the first winner of the first official race at the track was driving a Saab Sonett….might have been an Opel GT…;).
    The crowd (very sparse at the time) LOVED it.

    Between security and fewer support races, attending gets a little less interesting every year.

    I remember seeing old footage of 355\360 challenges, 993 cup etc as well during Montreal F1 weekend...

    Speaking of racing ''back in the day'', when I used to live next door to Zandvoort F1 track, there was so much more racing going on and more and club level as well...Ford Fiesta and later Renault Clio cup was always crazy to watch, 50+ cars on a small track! It's all gone more professional in the last few years and thus much more expensive. Bit of a shame...

    The most entertaining race I ever witnessed was a Renault 5 series race(must have been30-40 entries) in the pouring rain at Mid Ohio.

    Jacques(Gilles brother) made it to the remains of CanAm and then to CART(Indycar). He won one race in CART I think.

    Frère Jacques winning in F. Atlantic at Trois Rivières and leading Gilles in practice in his Arrows—one of a couple of outings et them—in F1 at Montréal in 1981:

    Wonderful photos. Memories. It was a shame he didn’t manage to qualify here (or Caesar’s) but at least he was in good company, Keeks and Warwick bounced out also.

    I remember reading in the Gazette he wasn’t too positive about getting in the field but thrilled at having a chance in F1. I think LaBatt’s sponsored his ride with Arrows to drum up added local interest in the race.
