    Hello everyone,

my first post here… I got an FF for 4 years and the gearbox failure light is on. The transmission shifts without any issue but it comes back every time I drive it for 30 mins. I sent the car to the dealer in Canada and they told me it’s the sensor and differential inside failed. They can’t buy differential so need to replace the entire gearbox for $63000 plus tax. But I saw some post said both differential and sensor part are available in US. Just want to get some advices from you. It’s a lot of money lol. Thanks a lot in advance. Attachment is the diags info

Perhaps the understatement of the decade! Poor quality, durability suspect....and an abysmal spare parts supply.

There are plenty of parts available for these cars and in reality only a few issues with these gearboxes that are well known and easily fixable with some tooling and experience. Differential parts and an SAP would be 2 weeks away but available. I would also replace the speed sensor kit, pressure sensors and the temperature sensors while in there. Generally the differential failure is due to old or incorrect gear oil usage. The boxes are sensitive to fluids and we only use the Shell product. That box can be repaired for about $30K

Agree. Still a ridiculous amount of money though.

Don’t know about the FF, but the 458 has both hydraulic clutch fluid and DCT fluid. The Shell product for the clutch is available, but the DCT is not (at least I couldn’t find any), so went with Motul 300 which very closely matches the Shell Spirax S5.

I replaced both fluids, so far no issues with my gearbox.

The Ferrari gearbox uses 75w/90 in the gear section.. and DCT fluid which is the clutch fluid you refer to.

I think you may have it backwards..

    The motul is gear oil

The DCT is the hydraulic oil ..which motul also has a high torque dctf fluid
