No, I'm not. He sued because he didn't like the rules.[/QUOTE] Can you give me a cite? I can’t find any… Tx
What the event lacked in drama, it made up for in spectacle. Planning to attend next year when the Championship is well and truly joined by Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot, etc. and the Centenary event. Starting to make inquiries, please relay more experiences as, amazingly, I've never been. BHW
https://www.autoweek.com/racing/more-racing/a40229773/glickenhaus-ready-for-possible-legal-battle-with-imsa/ He's threatened to sue IMSA over not being allowed to compete there. I don't believe he's ever sued ACO or FIA.
He isn't going to pay the manufacturers sanctioning fee anyway so I am not sure why he is bothering. I would love for IMSA to tell him he can race if he pays up. Call his bluff. I watched a decent amount of LM24 on Motor Trend. Didn't really find it super interesting. It feels like the coverage bounces around a lot and doesn't stick with a particular battle or team's strategy very long. I do like Graham Goodwin and some of the others in the broadcast team, but I wish I would have gone through the extra effort to stream RadioLeMans.
JG is threatening to sue due to homologation rules. SCG must demonstrate that they've sold 2,500 cars during the preceding year and they don't come close to that. Seems as though they may work it out as Atherton did during the Maserati MC12 situation. BHW
Cetilar does not compete in WEC in 2022 so they do "only" IMSA in 2022 (and in 2023). The Car in the Picture is a GT3 based GTD versus the WEC Car is a GTE. (GTLM in IMSA). The GTE Category will have his swanesong in 2023 before the GT Category will move to GT3. (Pro/Am only)
Its a dangerous trip...you can get addicted... Went there myself first time as a Fan in 2015 and ended up racing at Le Mans in 2022....
Hi Chris, Thanks for the warning. The experience would be a blast for sure. What a way to spend a weekend with some friends. Not sure how much fun the wife would have but I bet I could make it up to her with a trip to Paris...... Congrats to you for not only going but then to find yourself actually involved in the event! What dreams are made of Regards, GG
IIRC the 488 can be converted from GT3 to GTE specs (and vise versa). I am curious to see more details about GT3 "Premium" for FIA. I don't really get why it is necessary. Might as well stick with GTE then.
I hope the ACO will not try to be elitist again with this new GT3 "Premium" category, which may put off manufacturers. About 12 manufacturers have homologated cars in GT3, because there is a huge global market for them, in many series. GTEs could only compete in WEC, and only interested 4 manufacturers, then Aston Martin left ...
Prior to this year the GTEs ran in IMSA as GTLM as well. If they are going to do a GT3 Premium, it would be nice if IMSA adopted that for GTD Pro. I don't love that GTD and GTD Pro are the same spec, especially when you look at some of the GTD driver lineups. I say all that, and then go back to this is what killed GTE/GTLM. It is more expensive for a smaller market and the regular GT3 cars are already pretty badass.
thank you mate, It was a great 24LM for us indeed. missed a bit of performance due to BoP but I try to stay away from all the political nonsense and just enjoy racing at the most iconic tracks and races in the world. we all don't know for how many years they will exist! I hope I will be back for Sebring next year and maybe also Daytona24. I'm planning to do WEC again in 2023 for the last year of the GTE Class.
Please keep us posted. I need excuses to go places and do things WE enjoy and it Looks like 2023 could be a banner year globally for sports car racing. I'm off to Watkins Glen this coming weekend for the 6 hours, Great wines, restaurants, and scenery. Cheers my friend and super work at Lemans.
I think it will be around for many years to come, just like ICE will be around for many years. After that these large races will still be kept even if they went to an all electric series(if they do. It could end up being an all hybrid series). Not as many would want to go to the tracks if all electric except for races like Lemans. I feel the pain for the other tracks if they do go all EV as they will start to go out of business one by one. And yes I have seen an electric racing car demo, yawn!! Best watched on TV not in person.
