There you go! That Miura book got a lot of comment on this forum. If a Lamborghini book is okay, why not a Porsche book? (And don't say "because they're not Italian"!)

    Dear Mr. Massini,
How do you rate the book and its subject, the car? As far as I understand now, #0726TR was totally destroyed and most parts including engine and gearbox were lost. So it appears to me that we are rather talking about a complete recreation rather than the original car in restored condition. Considering this, is the book worth buying (well, yes, I know, we are talking about a price of just 20,00 euros)? Does it provide interesting historical information?

Haven't read it yet, just got the book less than 48 hrs ago.
It seems to show the Sebastiani side of the story, but I know well that there are several other "sides" too, in this very unusual and special case of mixup of chassis numbers.
Maybe equally bizarre as the "0846" case?

That guy from the Autosport forum is me. I have lurked here for a while, this is my first post.
My point was that out of the 280 pages 40something are basically blank, and that there's no information that wasn't already covered elsewhere, for instance in Serge Vanbockryck's absolutely magnificent Ultimate Works Porsche 956.

Which leads me to my second point. I have multiple 300-1000 euro books that I consider excellent value for money. The aforementioned 956 volumes, the Ultimate McLaren F1 and even Ferrari 250 GTO books, Racing Through Europe, Porsche Silver Steeds, Weekend Heroes II, Seventies Motor Racing, the triple volume Doug Nye Phil Hill books, the GTO 64 book to name but a few.
A very expensive book can be worth its money and even more.

The 956 001 was not extremely expensive but neither was it fully worth its money for the reasons stated above. I do not believe this makes me a ‘skintflint’ which I must say I don’t appreciate being called, but I’ll trust it wasn’t meant badly.

Sorry my direct views were not aimed at you just a general observation of some of the crowd on there who think 10 quid is a fortune.
And this is coming from a Yorkshireman.

Today, I received "My wonderful Testa Rossa" by Stefano Sebastiani - and it turns out to be a total desaster and waste of money (and paper, trees).

Although the title is English, it is written in Italian, and it is almost a pure text book with 230 pages of text and only a handful of badly reproduced small pictures with no siginificance at all. It's bound as a paper back.

While Mr. Massini could not give an evaluation after 48 hours (see post above) ;), I can give my review after 48 seconds: totally useless book.

    Disaster in what way?
In my initial post it was clear that the text is in Italian, not English.
And it is very clear that for 20 bucks only it is a paperback/softbound and surely not hardbound.
    What did you expect?
And what do you mean with "No significance at all"??
    Just curious.

Well, yes, as far as the language is concerned, I have to take the blame, because I was mislead by the English title and didn't read close enough your post.

As far as the very few pictures are concerned, they are insignificant, because they are so badly reproduced that's in many cases hard to draw any clues from them. If they show the Testa Rossa at all, because there are also pictures without any reference to the car at all.

It appears to be rather an autobiography of the man.

Yes, you cannot expect much from a 20 euro book. But instead of randomly spread lousy pictures of no coherence, the rebuilding process could have been published in a better way, even for 20 euros.

    Welcome to the forum.

Just a word to the wise, we have a lot of passionate book guys here with pretty strong opinions so please don't be too offended to be called an unsavoury name once in a while.

It's a Ferrari forum, not a ladies book club.

Show respect, but don't take it personally and when called for- just give as good as you get.

    Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the welcome. No offence was taken, maybe I expressed myself too strongly and in any case I understood where Halfwit was coming from. I just wanted to be clear I wasn't one of the skintflints .

Coming back to books: yesterday evening Editions du Palmier posted a message on their Facebook page that they are closing doors with immediate effect, both the shop and the publisher. No specific reasons were given, but this is sad news mainly for the French speaking among us.
