Yesterday I pulled the upshift paddle of my F1 at 8,000 RPM. It seemed pretty visceral to me…no more energy for this tired old debate and no reason to convert a perfectly functioning and engaging system.

I had extra shifting housing + all parts inside but sold to Stradale Vintage Cars. Some of the parts are insane hard to get for manual conversion I used over 3 months hunting (still possible, but time consuming). And it also depends on how far you want to stretch it when you do the conversion, I wanted convert change everything possible so the car almost look like come manual from factory.

Should be hotter with this type of exposure.

Mr. JWW has tried every Ferrari under the sun. The fact he picked up a nice 355 speaks volumes. Which means he finally gets it. Which also means, I've been right all along for years :).

The cool part is that this dude even owns F12 TDF and is more happy with this 355, there is something special with 355. The design, the sound, enough power that you can use. I think more and more will start to open their eyes for 355 now :D

    I'm surprised you're not calling out how he has a 2.7 but said it has a 5.2. If it's a 96, I wonder if it's a CH car?

Just a language/culture thing. He is saying it is a 1996 running a 5.2. Just talking and not being super clear. But that is the Brits for you ;-)

I don't think it was a language thing, I just think he doesn't know very much about the car.

2.7 ECU are known to make more power, but he says that the car is a 1996 and as such, has the "updated and more powerful" 5.2 ECU. The 5.2 was needed to allow OBDII compatibility, but the cars made less power. He's an influencer, not a car nerd, so the lack of knowledge is to be expected.

I don’t doubt he is lacking in knowledge and understanding. His assumptions are that the newer 5.2 is better and makes more power. But the way it was originally framed is this some odd 1996 2.7 car? I was commenting on that direction of the conversation. You are correct in your assessment of his lack of lots of info. Glad he is bringing more awareness, just wish he was more knowledgeable.

I know I am in the minority, having owned many years and versions, I prefer the 5.2 cars. Just wish they were non immobilizer cars. I like the look of twin intake runners, OBD1 and we all like slightly more power, but the 5.2 sounds better to me at full scream. I like the 5.2 idle better too.

Maybe it is all in my head, but just my take.

I have owned a few myself and the 5.2 does have the best sound at idle and off idle it responds very nice in the sound department. But for sure the 2.7 sounds unbeatable up top.

My car is titled as a 97 and has a F1 trans. Germany put the model year as the first year it was titled/registered not the manufacturer model year. Perhaps that's why he has a "96" with a 2..7 engine.

Did we ever see the engine compartment in the video? I don’t remember. I actually listened to it in background mode while working on something else. I saw video about every 10-15 seconds. Missed parts….

    This is for sure why.

It's a 95 MY year car probably late delivery and wasn't sold under after Jan1/96.

Thanks! Well then it is definitely a registering/ titling thing in Europe/England. Was delivered late or titled in error or something. Makes sense now.

Mr. JWW also has a nice detailing/PPF shop called NVN London, which seems to have gained tons of traction for local meets etc. I followed the progress of that shop from start to finish.

I'm not upset a Youtuber doesn't know every nitty gritty detail about the 355. Not even surprised honestly. If he knew everything about it, he would've bought one ages ago. You need an encyclopedia to know everything about the 355. Let's just be happy an experienced Ferrari comrade has embraced the car. I've watched a ton of his videos and as mentioned earlier, it speaks volumes someone of his caliber went out of his way to find a nice example to own.

As far as what he wants to accomplish with the car, all I can say is good luck. In this case, money will only get you so far. You need knowledge, persistence, and luck and that's why I like the car.

He has a mini series called "Modern Classics" on Youtube. One of his best lines was, "sometimes moving forward is moving backwards."
