    Exhaust sound change after 4000 rpm ?
    I have had my car for 2 years and always noticed a different sounding pitch when drive over 4000rpm, all the sudden may car doesn't do that any more? Anyone else have this happen?

    Sounds like your exhaust valves are stuck closed. The sound changes when the valves open up. I believe those are vacuum operated, so you may have a vacuum leak.

    I just had to replace an exhaust solenoid valve (#178309) because of similar issues.

    There are two valves. They are each controlled by their respective Left/Right engine ECUs using solenoid valves. The solenoid valves have independent electrical power sources. You will have to figure out if one or both are not operating.

    Vacuum is probably the only thing they have in common.

    Did you not get any warning lights on the dash?

    Maybe he could manually wire, not electrically but actually some wire to hold the arms on the actuator open to see if the car is louder at idle. If that works, then he can see if there is an issue with the vacuum, solenoid, or the valves themselves.
