has anyone know if this outfit is reputable? i am buying a 575 and want to do the conversion
Lots of ups and downs over there. I personally want them to succeed as I like the concept of what they are doing…..and on the east coast Wil DeGroot might be the best but he can only do as many as OEM parts can be sourced. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/my-horrible-experience-with-eag-european-auto-group-san-antonio.632945/ additionally you really should do some general thread searches… @dhalperin13 has had his at EAG for over a year…..
Any of these aftermarket conversions are going to be somewhat iffy given the limitations that small shops like EAG have to properly develop and engineer a quality conversion kit. It would be a significant undertaking for on OEM, let alone a small "mom & pop" shop like EAG with extremely limited development funds and personnel. I hope they succeed, too, but realistically there's only so much they can do with what they have. Buyer beware, or be patient.
A year is short. i had #projecttalladega engineless for 11 days short a year when I had Grom Racing engines in San Jose rebuild the Dart427. Serious shops have serious backlogs. My independent had my 550 last year for I think 24 weeks for relatively easy stuff. good work right now at least takes time.
I wonder what is holding it up. I think this is different from a repair/rebuild since this was presumably a driveable car to start with. If the parts were not on hand or imminently available, the car should not have been accepted for the conversion. It’s a year lost of driving a perfectly good car.
A friend in CT did his 430 just recently, took not more than 2 months. He is super happy with their work.
I assume you mean EAG. Allegedly EAG will travel to you and also do a 360/430 in a few days. the 575 conversion kit has been in development…..things take time….just be prepared. I built my Vintage Manx Baja racer in my garage and someday the dream is to (for fun) buy the EAG kit and do a conversion. I want them to succeed so I can have that kind of fun. If I was just going to do a conversion for conversion sakes then from private conversations I’d not go to the SoCal option, I’d be very nice and ask Wil DeGroot to perform his OEM conversion.
Well you just gave me some fun for my weekend…..gotta update my notes and figure out which two 575’s those are. Neat! and p.s. thanks for sharing
Duh! I remember that now. I follow the owner on IG. Gorgeous car. that shop is an absolute candy store. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I ordered and paid up front in full for an EAG conversion kit (360/430 version) over 1.5 years ago. Kit is not yet delivered, so yes the wait time is indeed very, very long.
So hard to tell with different lighting. Definitely seems darker than tdf. I’m really partial to blue and greens on maranellos
Easy for me to say, I have a 6mt 575, but if I was buying an 575 f1 now, I would be happy driving it rather than waiting for a potential conversion. This is reinforced by Taz's reports of his positive experience of driving his 575 f1.
To be fair…Dan is an original gangster and has two 575’s so he can enjoy 1 while the other has been out at EAG for over a year ;-). Said it before….I’m super jealous!
Sorry but I cannot see myself waiting one year to get my car done and in that one year what big they have all my money and they decide to go bankrupt
