How about a 'catch-all' thread for this stuff? (like the 'Cool Photos' thread) > or should they just go in the 'cool photos' thread? ......... whatever Cool/Interesting and informative .
Not wanting to litter the forum (any more than I already have) I'll just put this here......it is 'video'......... P-51 Precious Metal >>> Rolls-Royce Griffon Engine with counter-rotating props https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precious_Metal_(aircraft) Precious Metal was heavily damaged by a fire days before the 2015 Reno Air Races. One of the ground crew noticed the fire while the aircraft was taxiing and signaled Richard to shut down the engine. Richard shut down the engine and escaped the aircraft, which burned for 12 minutes before firefighters arrived to the scene. It took 20 minutes to put out the fire, and by that time the airframe had sustained severe damage. After the fire, Richard stated that Precious Metal would not race again. A lengthy restoration process of Precious Metal to airworthy condition began in 2016. Image Unavailable, Please Login 2016 update .
((The AC-130 gun-ship, nicknamed “SPOOKY”, is a Hercules cargo plane that has been modified into a Killer weapon. She waits over the battlefield to bring 3 types of destructive firepower on bad-guys below. At the start of the video, the audio may seem off…it’s not, the bullets hit and then the sound-waves follow after. Welcome to an old workhorse that still strikes fear to those who want to set-up IEDs during the night. When it’s above, you don’t want to be the Target.))) https://thechive.com/2022/05/12/spooky-the-terrifying-killer-weapon-facts/
My oldest son served in Viet Nam in helicopters and he saw the AC-130 gunships in action. While in a tight circle they could fire a concentrated stream heavy enough to dig a large hole. Heavy armor and transport did not survive a well coordinated and concentrated attack. An effective weapon.
This was posted over on the reddits, how to field assemble a P-47 using the crate it came in and some hand tools. Its a condensed 3 minute version of a 40 minute film that can be found on youtube. https://www.reddit.com/r/aviation/comments/v7sotk/how_to_assemble_a_p47_in_the_field_with_only_hand/
Considering the number of maintenance man-hrs per flt hr, it is in the best interests of the pilot to be very cordial with their ground crew. Sporting equivalent is a QB doing lots of favors for his linemen.
Or the medical equivalent. My brother is a doctor and he tells his staff that if they want to be successful doctors that they should listen to and respect the nurses.
Very early P-47C with Air Corps markings still on her. AAC became AAF in June 1941, although logistics and training elements of the AAC lasted until 9 March 1942 and everyone still thought they were in the Air Corps throughout WW-II and up until the USAF was formed on 18 September 1947.
Saw this picture posted as a joke, but it does look good in white.. When it absolutely positively has to be there in 1 hour. Packages are not guaranteed, melting will occur. If you need to ask how much the shipping charges are you can’t afford it! The SR -71 White Bird express.! Linda Sheffield Miller Image Unavailable, Please Login

I wish that I could find the video or photos of the Boeing B-47 that had a rack of rockets on the aft fuselage to make a RATO. They needed it, too, with six little GE J-47's for power.Just as impressive as Fat Albert. I guess that there was one configuration that did have a rack that was jettisonable (spl) but the production A model had the rockets built in.
