Had fried chicken from an independent place that's pretty good. No sides, just the chicken.

It's in the mid 80s and heat warnings all over the place in Oregon! On the bright side, it's about 20 degrees hotter back at home. Our neighbors have threatened legal action if we text them any more pictures of snow capped peaks and green mountain meadows. So, these are for your viewing pleasure.

We didn't do too well on food in Salem, Oregon. My fault, we got a hankering for Tex Mex one day and violated my "no Tex Mex outside the southwest " rule. I don't like to slag off small businesses, so let's just say they're skill was not good.

We did have excellent luck on wineries. We tend to focus on bubbly, because that's what we like, and it cuts the decision process down immensely.

St Innocent - Jefferson, OR - very good
ROCO - Newberg, OR - excellent
    Trisaetum - Newberg, OR - excellent-er!

Thanks to @Raconteur for the Newberg suggestions. Much appreciated.

Stopped for bbq in Olympia. Not bad. I avoided the brisket because that just leads to grumping on my part. Turkey was very good. I was sorely tempted to try the smoked carrot wrap, , but I passed. Beans good too.

The last time I was in Oregon 3 years ago now. I stopped at In & Out burger. That was it for dinning. The town our property is at has really good Mexican food restaurants. Its an agriculture area and lots of Mexican's live there. Think the population is 52% Hispanic. Accounts for the good Mexican.

I'm going to make cheeseburgers tonight, despite the heat outside. Need to go shopping for some supplies for that. Mainly bacon and hamburger relish.

Broke out the grill for the first time in a long time. Had a big pack of 4 NYs from Costco so just threw them all on the grill. Well 3 and a half, had a hole in the package and one got dried out on one end.

Also did some veggie skewers and corn.

    Yummm

90 yesterday, hot for us. Didn't feel like cooking again. Ordered pizza with my brother. Safeway has rotisserie chickens like Costco, albeit smaller and more expensive. Thinking about grabbing one and a container of their potato salad. 90 again and don't feel like cooking. Tired of take out.

Finished off the chicken from Safeway with potato and macaroni salad as a sides. Think I'm going to the fast food Chinese take out place tonight. Feel like Chinese food and they make decent Americanized Chinese.

Tomorrow is Canada Day, its like the 4th of July. Day off. Decided to take advantage of the meat sales and picked up some rib eyes. Was going to cook them tonight, but think I'll save them for tomorrow. Maybe I'll steal some ground beef from Bella. Make a homemade bacon cheeseburger.

I made a sandwich one day and kind-of fajitas another day with leftover steak and veggies. Still have steak left, that was a LOT of meat.

Yesterday I made beef/veggie stir fry over riced cauliflower. Used a store bought peanut sauce, not the best should just made my own. But overall it was tasty. Had leftovers of that tonight.

    Looks good!

Went out to dinner with some friends. Had an elk burger. Yumm, it was big and messy and I am full but it was very tasty. Oh and calamari for appetizer. Very tasty.

Going to BBQ at Dad's tomorrow grabbed some rib steaks at Costco yesterday.
