    Hi all,
I was wandering if anyone has an idea as to why I am hearing a ticking sound from the engine bay?
The noise sounds like it is closer towards the front of the engine as opposed to the rear.
The engine light came on briefly but then went off as well.
    Thanks for any feedback.

Your question is too general for a specific answer. Take a plastic hose; hold one end to your ear; and use the other end to find the specific location of the ticking sound. Post the results back here and maybe you will be able to get some help.

Could be a cracked exhaust manifold perhaps, but yes too general a question without a reference. I will say do not drive it if there’s a chance it is a manifold. You could do some serious engine damage.

Could also be a warped exhaust manifold flange, where it meets the cylinder head. This is common on the Scuderia and 16M, and has been posted as happening on F430s as well. When it warps, it will stretch and/or break the studs causing a leak. That is the ticking noise you hear on cold start. If it is not too bad, it will go away when the engine is warmed up. It if is bad, you may hear it all the time. I'm having the job performed on one side of my Scuderia right now by Windsock (other side was done 7 years ago). He removed and machined the flange flat, and then is replacing all the studs and gaskets.

In any case, you will probably need a careful inspection by a specialist.
There is a thread or two on Fchat from people that diagnosed and fixed it themselves. But way beyond my capabilities...

It’s a diverter valve, can be accessed through the fronk, remove the three mounting screws. I disconnected mine. Only drawback, I have no heat, which I hardly use
