Negative. Ferrari waited too long to switch both drivers in the race 2x when Leclerc was the faster driver. Then they brought in Sainz FIRST under the 2nd SC instead of Leclerc. Why did Ferrari put their faith on Sainz when he is not in the running for the WDC title?? This team did so much wrong in this race that it could have been a Ferrari 1-2.
So three wins in ten races.( 13 remaining races !) We are very performant and the car is on par now with the Red Bull. The last sidepods modifications are a good step forward it seems. All is not lost if the team really decides to promote Charles as a clear first driver.
Yes and when Lewis retires Chuck will jump to MB. The cars stay together and the pit wall has functioning strategists. He doesn’t want to be the next Jean Alesi. Just MHO.
Agree 100% -seems they predetermined that Sainz would be priority. Terrible decision for championship. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Also, much kudos to Carlos for fighting off Maxi at the restart. Charles was my driver of the day, so fast in a damaged car. He has to keep his head up, he has many victories to come. So tactically we weren’t as ruthless/efficient as maybe we could have been, but I think the performance bodes well. RBR still have the best car, but our is very very strong, even with battle damage. Best of all Zhou is up and tweeting
Binotto: "We thought a double pit stop was impossible so we had to make a choice. We chose Carlos because Charles was ahead and his tyres were fresher. We hoped the softs would degrade quickly but no.."
Binotto - Happy for Carlos he takes the opportunities and he deserved the win. So...........closed lol
I don't know if the car is "on par with Red Bull". I do hope you're right though. I totally respect Carlos but if Chuck keeps out qualifying him (unlike the GB race) then yes, he should get the preffered treatment.
Bino just confirmed what I said. Picking the best strategy is easy in retrospect. Remember that the enemy of good is better / perfect. The bigger issue is the Mercs.

I saw this - interesting assessment but with so few laps he thinks soft degradation...................hmmmmmmmmmmmm
When was he supposed to pass him? At the end with old hard tires while everyone else had new softs? Do you have any idea how idiotic that sounds within that context? Choosing the slower driver, in second place, who isn’t even in contention for the championship isn’t “bad luck.” It’s irretrievably moronic.
How much longer would the pit have taken to get the front wing on? Where would Charles have ended up with thee extra time in the pits?
Com’on…even the Soft is like the Hard in Canada cant be degrading that fast with just less than 10 laps to go… The have the time to double stack it, just too slow on every decision today. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Let’s remember that Carlos also defied team orders to back up HAM during the safety car , that’s not a team player
You jammy bastard. I was looking at the menu of a curry house just now and my mouth is watering. Then you put this on me
