Ok, sorry. I figured whatever type I said you would then pick it apart. TBH, the only real motorsport I WANT to watch are the races in Australia like the Bathhurst 1000. I used to like all forms, but I don't like spec cars, spec motors, political rules: everything that has stifled 'garage' innovation, driver ability and rule-bending. I'm tired of reading about a crew chief being fined $100,000 and the team 50 or 100 points because they used an 'unapproved bolt' somewhere (and that HAS happened). I like cars that, in some series, actually resemble cars. I don't like series that, if you painted every car the same color, you cannot tell them apart. I like watching races and not having to worry about if a guy will be set back 6 spots DURING THE RACE because he cut someone off.... so F1 is out. So I've basically listed F1, IRL, NASCAR, NHRA Funny Cars.....
Fair enough. I am not in love with specs series myself. After years of watching F1, going to GPs and Endurance, I am reaching a point where I start losing interest, with their silly rules and the pompous atmosphere around them, so I understand what you say. I follow a lot of GT series at the moment, mostly watching them on Youtube, or on Sky when available, or Canal when in France. They have a variety of cars 12 brands homologated in GT3, about 8 in GT4 and 5 or 6 in GT2. Races are mostly 1 hour with driver change in the middle. With 2 races at any event. But there are endurance races too, up to 24 hours. I follow DTM (8 events, 16 races), and ADAC GT Masters (7 events 14 races) for GT3 in Germany, then British GT Championship (7 events for GT3 and GT4) and British GT Cup (7 events 14 races), and the GT World Challenge Europe which has about 12 events in different categories GT2, GT3 and GT4, in different countries in Europe, using the same circuits as F1 in fact. I love GTs, I can relate to those cars, and they have diversity, private teams, etc ... I end up watching in Winter some of the stuff I recorded during the season! I even follow the 8 hours Bathurst GT race in Australia, or the Nurburgring 24 hours. I like the atmosphere at these GT races. I attended some in the past. I also follow motorcycles series, not just MotoGP, but Superbike. The World Superbike Series, the British Superbike, the MotoAmerica Superbike, and the Australian Superbike series. They have very exciting races. I like the Superbike format, with 3 races at most event. My favourite bike race is the Daytona 200, a semi-endurance race now run with Supersport only (600 to 900cc), but flat out on terrific track, IMO. I am retired, so I have plenty of time now.
I don't have cable or satellite - I just don't watch TV enough to justify the extra $150 a month for 'basic' cable. I will have to spin around on YT and see what I can find one of these days.
I record all the races - F-1, Indy, IMSA, WEC, Blancpain etc...all the sports car races - usually on Motortrend ... some of the smaller channels we get with Roku... and Amazon fire ... don't have cable anymore - and don't miss it. the cost is maybe slightly cheaper - but the access to content we like is what is important. we like TV- but not all the commercials ... its our home entertainment. I like to be able to watch a recorded race anytime I want ... when I want it.
