The length and width of this generation of X5 are almost exactly the same than those of a Lusso...

 

height is quite different, X5 is 14.2 inches (36cm) taller than the Lusso! The FUV almost looks to be same height as the Lusso, maybe 5"(12cm) taller, maybe, FUV is simply a tall car...

However, I was recently told that the price is now going to be less, sub £300 plus spec to about £350 total. So, around £50k less than previously expected. I placed an order on that basis, but let’s see what happens!

 

SHAPE !! and TOTAL MASS (the area the whole shape takes up). The PS will be more the length and width of the X5 correct (never said it wouldn't, in fact I said it would be) but it wont have that mass or that tank look or shape. Instead it will have more the X2 shape and the total mass, while the shape and mass will be a little bigger than an X2, that same shape and mass will be alot smaller than the X5s. Some of you clearly can't visualize outside 1 dimensions aka a ruler just because its this long and this wide does not mean it has to have the shape or total mass of a brick like the X5. I don't mind you guys not agreeing or not able to visualize from a design point of view in that way but the way you are coming across is disrespectful. Maybe my background in design is making me expect you to see what I am saying in a different way if so I am sorry if that's the case, But please don't talk down to me like I don't have a clue. When in fact I have more design qualifications than alot of people here. Anyway all the best, subject closed.... Simon

 

Not directly related to the Purosangue, but I’m told the Lamborghini Urus for 2023 will have an S and SV version. The S will be identical in power/performance to the current Urus with a light facelift, and the SV will have “ten percent more horsepower” along with more aggressive body lines and suspension. It’s interesting Lamborghini hasn’t really made huge leaps in update to try and compete with the Ferrari offering. A Purosangue with the V12 should be a segment leader for sure which is welcomed news.

 

A response to both the DBX 707 and the upcoming PS….

Drove the 707. Pretty quick. Well geared and smooth. Assuming to continue the parallel movement of Aston and Ferrari I expect the 707 will be more “GT” and the PS more (cough…ahem) “sports car-ish.”

Had we not traded my wife’s Levante GTS on a new convertible ‘vette (which she’s wanted since High School), I’d have gladly traded it in on the 707 for her.

So, you are basically saying that two of the three dimensions (length and width) will be X5 like, yet you liken the FUV to the X2, which is closer only to one dimension (height). Makes sense... not really.

 

I know. Im just bringing up the fact that to compare length and width, a comparison with the X5 is much closer than with the X2.

 

SMH your still thinking in one dimension. So if the X5 and the X2 were the same H/L/W but kept their base shape The X2 would have less total mass because it's less bulky shape and would look alot smaller (aka less volume within the 3 axles)

 

The reason that the X2 seems less bulky than the X5 is that it has smaller overall dimensions. The proportions (the shape as you put it) are about the same. The Purosangue will have the length and width of the X5 (it will probably be even longer and wider), but its much lower height will make it seem smaller. I get what you are saying, but the example with the X2 was not a very good one.

 

My understanding based on some of the spy pics is as its an SUV/FUV some of that V12 size is able to go further back plus the dash will be bigger so more room to reduces inches in the front. So the front should be same or up to 200mm shorter than the Lusso IMO. The one issue I have with the Lusso is the front is too long looking

 

X5=Budweiser - The king of beers
X2=Bud Light- less filling
PS V12=more money and fame for Ferrari
PS V6Hybrid= more money but less filling

No V6 Hybrid. Only V12 and later EV version

 

I’m still waiting for someone to draw parallels with the Aztec since both are hatchbacks!

Since d355 said no hybrid V6 PS we can pretty much take that as gospel.

That being said, the case for Ferrari to make a V6 hybrid PS is compelling:

1. Ferrari cannot come anywhere close to satisfying the demand for the V12 PS because of production constraints on the V12 assembly line.

2. Hybrid V6 would allow Ferrari to price lower entry point for PS and attract new customers to the brand and to double or triple sales of the PS while satisfying demand for those who want 800bhp ICE and Ferrari engine sound. Electric only PS is just a completely different thing.

3. Ability to run electric only even for 20 miles would be very useful for many owners in numerous settings.

 

The die has been cast, next iteration is full EV for the FUV, what will be really weird is to see (not hear!) the mules, if they believe 2025 for reveal of the full EV FUV (EVF?) we should see mules in the next 12 months...

 

Really surprised by no V6 or V8 hybrid version. If that is the case then why did Ferrari wait so long to release this car? Its like delayed by 2-3 years. I always thought that they wanted the Hybrid drivetrain in there which was taking longer than expected to perfect (Ferrari had to release the F8 to plug the gap) so the PS was also delayed because of it. Also the release of PS after SF90S and 296GTB hinted at the use of a Hybrid drivetrain in the PS.
In a car like PS where weight does not really matter the V8 Hybrid or even the V6 Hybrid drivetrain makes a lot of sense to me.

My whole first post was basically, here is the Ferrari FUV general shape vs a X5. People didn't have to agree with my comparison.
But instead some choose to be some what rude or make fun. So I lowered my standards and shined them on a little. I respect those that discussed it, but shocked how some were no better than children and mocked. Right, wrong, indifferent or otherwise we need to respect each other. BTW the above comment was great tongue and cheek.. Thank you

 

I agree we can all have fun with each other but things ought to stay respectful. But people get weird sometimes…

Heck, even I get weird sometimes but I am used to my weirdness and it doesn’t seem so odd to me.
