I used the same paint for air filters but I didnt like the result (it looks uneven and some parts end up with a "lighter" black aureola). Any suggestion to get a optimum result?

    Hello Andres
It took much practice, my best results now come from using a heat gun after applying the paint.

    Hello Andres
The VHT paint only gives you a small wrinkle as far as I've seen.

    Good day Jim,

"Small wrinkles" tends to be a relative term... and can be fighting works if one refers to the significant other's skin complexion :)

I have had excellent results with VHT Wrinkle paint with just the right amount of wrinkles and their depth, but like you said it takes practice. On a few items I had to redo/strip them before I was happy. Once I got the hang of it, it worked very well, however, YMMV.

    Cheers,

    Sam

If you want to get it right, sometimes drinking too much wine and closing one eye while you spray will get the correct result.

Personally I think closing both eyes gets the best result!

Drinking a bottle of wine and closing both eyes when looking at the result may also help...

More seriously, the problem with DIY wrinckle paint is to find the appropriate oven, that is to say large enough to hold the long camshaft covers.

Try a BBQ, thats what I use now. I learned my lesson using the oven once leaving a lingering smell for days. That didn't go over well with the other half.

    Good day Paul,

For applications like this, it is best to buy a dedicated BBQ/Oven, as the off-gases from the chemicals used in paint, etc can remain trapped on the inner surfaces thus contaminate food that may be cooked within them. Although some times these chemicals can add a bit of unique flavors to food :).

Used ovens can be had cheap... I bought a very nice stainless Steel stove/oven for $25 that had its control panel damaged. A bit of re-wiring and adding my own controls and ta-da I have my own dedicated powder coating oven for small and quick jobs. For larger needs, etc I still use a professional, as nothing beats the dedicated and specialized equipment that these professionals use.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Fabulous!
Really good work, my I ask how much time you spent on them?

    Buy the way!
You are too humble regarding your own accomplishments, mostly related to my own posts on Facebook.
Just stumbled open this post today, beautiful work altogether.

    Hello All
Please see photo of the engine now installed into the car. I was hoping to have the drivetrain installed but came down with Covid and then had to travel abroad so my progress was cut short. I will post more photos as soon as I have the drive train installed.

    Hello Esben
The whole interior is retrimmed in Connolly Vaumol Leather as original. It is fabulous to work with, a real joy. I'm getting close to finishing the front seats and armrests for the rear quarters. Then I will have to do front doors, armrests and carpets.
