Haha! I wish, Greg. I never fell out of love with it - quite the opposite. One thing that was blindingly obvious today was it sounds amazing. Nothing I ever own for the rest of my life will sound so good. I'd keep it if I could justify having two silly cars.
We'll never know. Saying it's the best one in the country and mechanically perfect isn't misrepresenting, just in case you're not clear on that. I'm not saying they said that, but even if they did, not misrepresenting. Sig www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm
Hmmm. Is this car “better” than the one he had before? More original? But, it is “Aussie delivered”. So that excuses any number of things. Apparently.
Delivered new in 2000 to Ferrari F1 technical director Ross Brawn in the year that Schumacher won the Drivers’ Championship and Ferrari the Constructors Championship, https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12331750 Sig www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm

Here is one to look out for . VIC Roads are now doing audits on the private sale of high end cars to make sure correct stamp duty has been paid. If they suspect under value of said car , a letter is set to the purchaser with an invoice for the amount required payable within 7 days with a % penality . If NOT paid than Rego is suspended ,the new owner has the right to appeal , ....but the appeal could take over a month to be reviewed ,and the car is still suspeneded from current rego tll the appeal is looked into . Told this by a friend with a client with the issue..
Mad if you don’t put down the correct amount, also a trigger for ATO investigation. Are you still going to able to bring the Prawn Wagon? Silly signature here to annoy KIAI
Stamp duty on cars or houses is BS !! What do you get for stamp duty apart from shuffling a few documents. There should be a set charge for paper shuffling ...... $20, end of APAC
Curious - was it a US car? The thing about project cars is that unless you can do the bulk of the work yourself, and/or intend to keep it for a long time or it has some sentimental attachment or is uber rare and desirable, they always end up being stories cars that cost more than they are worth. I played very briefly with the idea of a buying a black XJS (There is something sinister looking about a black XJS I love) and doing a manual conversion with jenvey throttle bodies, unrated suspension and brakes. Unenviably being a black car, it would need a respray etc - in the end, I’d be at least $90k on a car that would be lucky to get $40k, and that assumes I do some of the work myself. F that! If it was a dream car, sure, you could justify the cost. But for a fling? Just dumb.
You could have a crack at these two: https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2022-shannons-winter-timed-online-auction/E4Z75A01BE4372HI/ https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2022-shannons-winter-timed-online-auction/L4M9V5MC29P06I1L/ Both reports read differed maintenance IMO.
I think what the guy put down was corret price , VIC Roads thought diffrent , Red book in the back hip pocket , I've never met a valuer that looks at the red book have you Jon?
Yes, I saw both of them - I don't like the post HE cars - but former looks great (albeit in very mediocre condition- most of the mechanical issues could be fixed for around $5K in my experience - having owned a DB7)- but when you do all the work to bring it up to snuff and repaint etc, I'll be way underwater, which is fine on a deadman's car but not something that just tickles your fancy. No. I'm focused on what I really want now. But every now and then, its nice to daydream a bit, work out the real $$$$ and then wake up to reality and get back to the cars that you REALLY love.
Governments need to raise revenue for paying public servants and wasteful projects like we have in VIC..
