Let’s keep everyone honest here. The OP is a Ferrari enthusiast (has a few on order). Prefers to sell his F8 in lieu to keep the MC20. We all judge our toys in accordance to the degree in which they satisfy our interest. We do not have to be exclusively one brand focused. Let him enjoy whatever he thinks is best for him.

Yeah, its ok man. I have a few porsches as well and Ferrari owners are the second biggest fanboy/ **** talkers to Porsche owners.
Remember this you maybe loyal to the brand but the brand will cut your throat at the first site. I love Ferrari, actually Ferrari is my favorite but I spread the wealth. I like to enjoy what ever company has to offer not just so set in my ways.

    Great comparison! Beautiful spec

MC20 vs 296 would be interesting too with the v6 hybrid

I’m biased, but for visceral experience I like the last non-turbo v8 in the 458.. so I understand your point about fun to drive

As a big fan of the brand and ex-owner of a Maser GT, I'm very disappointed with the lack of engine note.

Having said this, I think the MC20 is amazing. No need to compare against F8 or anything. I think it's probably closer to a 911 Turbo. But Maserati FINALLY made a step forward with this MC20.

BTW love the spec you picked. No wonder you're getting eyes... And the interior is very minimalistic and that's totally fine with me. I actually dislike the complexity of the Roma's interior. MC20 more of a focused driving macchina.

    Enjoy!

Because they are far less rare in LA than many other places. Not much of a novelty.

In that case do we include an Alfa Romeo or a Honda Accord in there? the 296 is a hybrid system and is 100k more base price. The MC20 is a pure ICE V6. Petrolhead is probably correct that a turbo s would be comparable, but the MC20 blows that away in the looks department (IMHO).

I can appreciate what you're saying. I have both the Plaid and the F8. I feel the Plaid is like a flying mattress, lol. Certainly much faster than the F8, however the F8 is everything. Starting from brakes, to corners, Obviously no comparison, certainly it's not all about going fast in a straight line.

The common 296 and MC20 element is that no one asked for these cars to be built but instead are being foisted on us for a whole host of reasons that have zero to do with automotive excellence

One may argue about the hybrid choice for the 296, but what makes the MC20 artificial?
If it's reducing the number of cylinders, I don't think so - when cylinders were fed by carburettors they needed to be as small as possible to allow better feeding and combustion, but the advances in fuel injection (and turbocharging) have shifted the balance between the complexity (and losses) of more cylinders and the gains of smaller cylinders. So reducing the number of cylinders for a given engine capacity is technically driven and actually improving efficiency and performance.

For me, it looks like Maserati designers got to the rear of the car and decided to just get it done as if they were tired of the project. The rear is disappointing to me.

You appear quite happy about your purchase. While I can understand keeping certain other cars in your collection, would suppose the last of the non-battery Ferrari’s would have a space reserved in your heart to keep it. Have not seen many interior close-up of the MC20 to see if Maserati kept their sticky fingers out of Chrysler’s part bins. Recollect driving a Quattroporte 4years ago whose interior masked that of a Chrysler Soccer Van. A real enigma. Congrats on your purchase and many years of driving happiness. BTW, a very nice livery.

in what sense? drive an mc20 anywhere and see how the public react!

I love the mc20, I think the styling is beautiful, I love the brand and the car drives extremely well and is more than quick enough whilst actually being comfortable when needed

the f8 is fantastic too but to me that's more of a hardcore car that i'd use for a different purpose

What would be considered hardcore usage? Tracking? Spirited driving?

I love my new F8, but will most likely never track it. Might boil down to personal preference, but otherwise I don’t think one could use the any advantage the F8 might offer over the MC20 under most driving conditions.
