Marcello Gandini: At The Cutting Edge Of Automotive Design...
Love these photos. Especially the Fiat one! I feel the design of any of those cars could be well set into the clouds. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mitsubishi Fuso has built trucks and buses for 90 years. In 2008 they started a historical restoring project of 15 cars from their past and dedicated 29 employees to the project working on weekends and Holidays. Image Unavailable, Please Login After a few cars were fully restored in 2010, the cars sat around the warehouse and were not being used. Fast forward to 2020 and employee Kei Tashiro decided to bring them back into the light. Some trucks started right up while others needed a little help waking up. I'm not sure if the AMX/3 was covered in this ever so long thread before. More than a half century before the mid-engine C8 Chevrolet Corvette, an American automaker made an exotic mid-engine sports car. It was powered by an American V-8 and sported Italian bodywork. No, I’m not talking about the Pantera that De Tomaso made for Ford, I’m talking about plucky little American Motors Corporation and its head designer Dick Teague’s pride and joy, the AMX/3, designed two years before the Pantera. While the AMX/3 never quite made it to serial production, six cars were built and at least from a mechanical standpoint it was fully engineered. It has a great story, perhaps one of Detroit’s greater tragedies, and like all great tragedies, the characters and cast were notable. https://www.hagerty.com/media/automotive-history/the-amx-3-a-half-century-before-the-c8-corvette-little-amc-made-a-mid-engine-supercar/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Truth be known, I should be staging one. He has NO business driving a Honda! Said he had to have a manual. Hmmmmmmm. We'll see how that plays out.
It looks interesting. I don't know yet what justifies the $300k price point to compete with the likes of Rolls-Royce, but it's an interesting-looking car. If it was half that price (around Porsche Taycan money), I'd say they'd sell loads of them. All the best, Andrew.

is hand built a good thing these days? quality control and quality of materials would appear to be more highly prized imho. define hand built plz.
GM is having quality control/engineering issues w the new corvette. the paint is chipping around the headlights. dealers are having to repaint the the bumper/fender. dealers are also trying to reshim the new cars coming in. not something a halo car owner wants to deal with.
Wonder if this is a triangular window above the red light? Can't tell because of the shadows, surfaces, and colors present. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Each car will bar built to the individuals specific specs. Not built on a traditional assy line in an existing plant. A craft center has been built at the GM Tech Center where skilled craftspeople will build each car. Not unlike what RR does. Only 400 global per yr, so not exactly a speedy process.
I'll ask the F-Chat design braintrust, is this a problem? H Image Unavailable, Please Login adn't made the connection until one of my design peeps sent it to me.
