No sense having a boring life....that right there qualifies as the polar opposite of such. :D

What a fantastic (if not quite harrowing in the moment) experience!!

BTW, why is this thread combining Bourbon and Scotch, since they are as different as Bison and Buffalo ? ;)

Plenty of Irish and Rye in here as well, I suppose it's become an all-encompassing whisk(e)y thread now. :)

It was definitely memorable, but nowhere near as "harrowing" as our early morning drive (to another hiking trail) the next day, when we ended up in the middle of a 40-50 head heard with several (scared ?) calfs crossing the road around us.
My wife though we were done for and wouldn't even try to photograph or video any of this happening. :(

good lord i would....need fresh undies for sure.

we were hanging by the river just off Madison Campground a couple years back just enjoying the running water, and out of nowhere we were surrounded by easily 100 head that came from behind us (i'm still a little sour on all the tourons that were taking photos of them, nobody bothered to give us a heads-up they were coming our way so we could vacate safely). we just stayed exactly where we were, because getting up and going ANYWHERE would have been a horrible idea (cows and calves mainly, with about 10 good sized bulls among them and the usual 3-4 REALLY old former monarchs hanging behind a ways having been deposed by younger bulls). thankfully they just ignored us, assuming we weren't much of a threat just sitting there not encroaching on them.

so i guess it's good to know if they come across YOU, they tend to leave you alone....unless you give them a reason to unleash the surly side. ;)

Watched the sun rise from inside the circle at Stonehenge, popped over to the village where most of Hot Fuzz was filmed, up to Bath, on to Diddly Squat Farm Shop, then onward to Cambridge where a very good friend stationed over here presented me with a serious unicorn HERE, let alone in the US, at one of his favorite pubs.

Quite the day indeed. Couple quick train rides after returning the rental (vauxhall corsa 6mt, first time driving in the UK and i didnt die!!) and it's naptime. Hitting Mayfair tomorrow for a hat, a cigar in Churchill's chair, and a few other odds n ends.

I’m a big fan of peaty Scotchs now but can’t justify the coin for Laphroaig and the rest .
I find great value in Famous Grouse Smokey black in 1.75 liter bottles at about $45.

At last, I could have a taste of the whisky which my mates ordered 10+ years ago in UK and which was delivered during Covid lockdown to Germany.

The story goes something about that three guys paid for a barrel, almost forgot about it, and got their personalized batch of 300(?) bottles delivered. Not sure even if that delivery was after Brexit. No extra costs for customs of other duties applied. But be it as it may, they are not allowed to resell.

I am 58 and wonder if I shouldn't by a barrel. Here is a picture. And it tastes excellent! My mate in the background inspected my watch, which was the actual reason for the visit. Or was it the whisky? :)

Oh man great day yesterday. I called Costco to see if they had the Kirkland Single Barrel in yet and the guy said no but he just got 2 cases of Eagle Rare. I haven't bought ER for $25 per bottle in a long, long time.

I have an older version that's 128.x proof, and three Elijah Craig private barrels and one ECBP all hovering just under to just over the 130 mark. Plus a Stagg Jr Batch 16 which is just a lil over 130 as well. 118 isn't too bad. hehehe. ;)
