When I was a little airport bum in 1938 or 1939 I used to go to the little airport near the University of Maryland to watch airplanes and mooch rides when my brother was studying for medical school and I saw a funny looking little airplane that had twin tails and a little wheel in the front. It was made of shiny metal and stood out from the colored fabric planes that were there. Goofy looking little airplane that I was to fly ONCE ten years later. I had the feeling that it flew me instead of the other way around. College Park Airport was and is the oldest airport in the country and that is where the Engineering Research Corporation produced the Weicks Ercoupe.
OK, this one is (nearly?) complete........in the infamous "that'll buff out" category..... https://silodrome.com/vought-f4u-corsair-project-plane/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, $15,800 for that Ercoupe. Even in today's overheated market, that's insane money. Literally everything will need to be touched, and you can buy flying ones for well under 30K
