Soon will have the Brake Recall campaign work done on my 2010 458 Italia, which still has the nice snap crackle pop overrun in the engine mapping. Does anyone know if the software update portion of the brake recall work will interfere with, or alter, engine mapping such that it makes the nice popping go away? Thanks!

Yes thank you, I reviewed that thread before posting, but couldn't find any reference to whether the software update affected engine mapping.

I thought I saw a couple people saying they got the recall done on the thread and still had the pops and bangs from pre update engine/exhaust, but don't quote me on it...

I had my 2010 458 recall done and there was no change in the crack pop overrun. Still sounds the same.

the software flash involves the instrument cluster only to incorporate earlier warning of brake fluid loss

    Hi,
I have a 2010 458 Italia too and just did the recall. Car came back with the same pops.

But I did actually have a very big issue. The former owner of the car had a aftermarket backup camera installed that was connected directly to the instrument cluster and was using the right screen to display the camera. I was told the camera conflicted with the software update and needed to be disconnected. But this is not where the story ends, cluster was sent to Ferrari NA to be reconditioned and later even to Italy. Came back with an another problem and Ferrari NA marked it as faulty and could not be installed back. The best is that they billed me 100% on a new one. +$9000...after waiting more than 3 months...very bitter.
    Cheers.

Ferrari of Atlanta is making everyone sign waivers before doing the the instrument cluster software flash portion of the brake recall.

The waiver says if the instrument cluster fails, not FoA fault.

They also have discovered 3 mileage blockers tied into the cluster that the current owners were not aware of.

    Google "mileage blockers" and learn.
I did not believe the concept when I first heard of it.
    I do now.
    The blockers are EVERYWHERE.

Ferrari wound the clocks back to zero on all the La Ferrari's if the owners wanted it.

I should have previously replied 'Allegedly Ferrari are reported to have offered to owners of La Ferrari's to wind back their clocks to zero'.

If true, that practice is suspicious in my opinion.

Same cap and brake booster design, probably. First diagnosed in 458s that had serious problems stopping when the boost failed.
It may be that there were similar failures on other cars but they were less noticed because other cars weren’t so dependent on boost to stop. But once the cause surfaced, Ferrari decided to change all with the same cap and booster design to help avoid liability. Just a theory.
