Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Picked up this 2018 812 SF Dream come true! I absolutely love this car but would like to make a few small changes. Anyone have experience with getting the brake calipers repainted? I want yellow or red instead of black, Novitec springs, spacers? What do you guys think? What does stuff like this cost for Ferraris? Thanks
I can’t comment on the upgrades but congratulations!! Your going to absolutely love this car. Nothing compares. Agree on painting the calipers. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Rather than paint the calipers, I would preferially change the wheels to a silver, or even better, a diamond cut. Behind a lighter colored wheel, the black calipers will look great. And for sure, tint is needed. Congrats, and let it rip!
What a stunner….incredible car! I personally prefer the black caliper on this car as the yellow will make it more boy racer. I feel this type of car it will not suit. On the rear engine cars though, for whatever reason I feel it is more suitable the yellow calipers on red such as my previous love 458. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Congrats! I've put Novitec springs on mine and lowered it 1.25" all around. When lowered, the car definitely needs the spacers, but since I track mine I haven't put any on (I may just have a set of wheels made with an extra 15mm added in). Now you can lower it without the Novitec, but I wanted the stiffer springs for the track. IIRC, the Novitec springs weren't very expensive. Yellow calipers & lowered. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Love Rosso Mugello on the 812SF/GTS. I was on a driveday with a bunch of other Ferraris last week organised by our dealer and there was an 812GTS in Rosso Mugello and it looked stunning, I love the look of the OP's new 812 as it is. The Black rims and matching Black calipers give it a mean aggressive look which suits the nature of the Superfast. Its a car that doesn't take prisoners. Once you get an 812 no other non Special series Ferrari will feel the same again. Many congrats on a great choice.
My vote is for grey or silver painted wheels, black calipers can stay. I'm not a big fan of messing with the suspension, ferrari spent millions in development on the car, there's usually a trade-off that comes with aftermarket parts.
Congrats, the 812 is great! Mine is lowered on novitec springs and 10mm spacers upfront and 15mm in the rear. Flushes it up pretty good, but you’ll need to roll the fenders and you will need the front lifter. Labor price will vary based on your location and dealer vs independent. But it’ll probably be around $5k would be my guess? I think springs are around $2k, spacers and lugs $1k and the labor will vary. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Our ‘new’ (to us!) F12 had unpainted calipers from the factory. The dealer recommended painting them yellow or red and included the repaint in the price. If we’d paid for the repaint, the quote was about €700 all in. Showroom pic is before. Outside pic is collection day. Thank you! In my opinion it just looks that much more Thanks! That’s a perfect example of what I’m thinking. To me it just pops so much more and matches perfectly with the shield. To each their own but I think the yellow looks much sharper.
Congrats...looks perfect! I love the wheels/calipers don't scream "look at me"! The lines of the car are the real attraction! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats on the new purchase and welcome to the family. I see you just joined on Sunday! My personal preference is the diamond finish rims with yellow calipers. Matches the Shields and gives a nice contrast. But what you have is also cool and mean looking. Didn't touch my suspension. Love it as is. Use the car for golf, costco, errands, etc Need clearance for speed bumps, driveways, etc Will keep my eyes open and maybe spot you zipping around town one of these days Curious to know which shop you are considering for the suspension work. What does lowering and spacers do for the ride, handling and other elements of the drive experience (steering feel etc). And issues with bottoming out or wheels catching/running wheel arch? Does this not make it less comfortable and less versatile. In U.K. (London and south east) so many speed humps. Lowering would be a nightmare.
Did you paint same shade of yellow as the shield. When you spec yellow callipers from factory they are a different shade to the yellow in the shield and badge.
Image Unavailable, Please Login - demonstrated in photo of mine. If I were having them painted from black to yellow. I might try to see if I could match the yellow to the shield and badges. May be. Hmmm.
My opinion it tightened up the car just right, but I use the 812 much more as a sports car than GT. It really reduces the body roll, and I feel like it rides a bit smoother. It does create more opportunities to bottom out on really bumpy roads at speed, so that’s something to be mindful of. I have to use my lifter for nearly every speed bump now, but that’s why I got it. The 812 is a brilliant theatrical car. It’s loud, it makes an exotic sound, it’s fast, it can stop, and it handles. I love throwing people in the passenger seat and showing off what the car can do. It’s a fun thrill ride and the lowering gives me that much more confidence to really toss it around in the twisties
No - we went for the factory look rather than trying to colour match. Given the slight mismatch, I wonder if there is an issue with creating a heat resistant paint which perfectly matches the yellow on the shields and centre cap.
Thanks, you too! I’m actually from the Okanagan so if there is anything that I did decide to do it would probably be done at August Motorsports.
