My battery was dead so I charged it up overnight. Started and drove fine. Next day started normally but went into neutral from auto by itself. Went to paddle shifters and slipped back into neutral again. It did this a few times then seemed to be ok in auto but the engine light came on. Got it home and did a restart.
Engine light still on. I’m due for service but it’s a 2.5 hour drive to Dallas. Anything I can do?
    Thanks

Just replace the battery, these cars are so sensitive its not worth messing with a suspect battery, given its probably the cheapest part on the car to replace.

Order one of these from Amazon, so you’ll always have it. You battery is probably a goner.

Car battery’s don’t recharge to 100% reliably once they are run down to zero. Sometimes a deep cycle battery will, but rarely.

Is that a Stearman next to your car? When I was a kid I mopped floors at a hangar at Santa Paula Airport in CA. One of our customers had a Stearman biplane that was spectacular. He took me for a ride in it that I’ll never forget.

Nice rare Waco or Howard. Needs to be at Osh! BTW Get a code reader and read the codes from the CEL. Get a tender I have had all three, Battery minder, Ctek, and Granite Battery saver. I find the Granite works the best, keeps it at 13.1V fully charged. Start with a good battery and then go from there. Good luck.

I noticed the color too. Is that Grigio Ingrid over Bordeaux? I would love to see more pictures of it.

I charge the battery and the engine light went out but it still won’t shift out of Auto. Will shift with the paddles both up and down.

Honestly, just replace the battery. As others have noted it’s not worth the second-guessing and constant worrying. Even if you think it’s fine its probably not. As stated above, even if it starts the car it could be weak and cause a host of little issues. Replace the battery and start your diagnosis off on the right foot by ruling out this common culprit. These cars are incredibly sensitive to voltage issues. Good luck!

I had 2 ferrari dealer batteries and all cause issues in winter

I replaced it to an agm battery and in winter still can cause rough idle issues.
So now i turn on ig, then off, then back on and then start car and it seems to start better

mainly a winter issue as voltage is lower

Do you always leave connected to a tender when not in use?
