Some Of you know we are building a house and while we wait for construction to finish, I was storing my Pista at a rental house I own. I’ve been out of town and the battery has been connected to the tender. It’s been about a month since I last drove it. Went to get it tonight and battery was completely dead even though it was hooked up to the tender. Im going to talk to the dealer tomorrow but any suggestions on how to jump it? Where is the battery? I can’t even unlock the door as the battery is completely dead. I unhooked the tender and reattached it. Light is green- but no juice. Any suggestions? This was the last thing I needed!
The battery protects its self and will still have 5% charge in it, I had same issue, I cannot remember the process but there is a way to get it back to life through the charger, it was something like hold the re set button for 12 seconds, Ferrari only found this out when we tried everything a million times.
I had the same thing happen last year. Since its a Lithium you can not jump it. When Ferrari roadside came they pulse charged it with a battery pack and over 20 min the electronics came back on and there was enough to start it up. They took it the dealer to check out the battery and alternator etc.. and in my case I didn't plug it after a few days so it was just my stupidity. In you case if its not the battery itself then it will be the trickle charger as dealer said many have failed.
Thx for the reply guys. Not sure what else I am supposed to do if I have to leave it sitting for an extended period. I plugged it in and left it on the trickle charger.
Looks like Ferrari has a roadside assistance app. I just registered my car. Takes 48 hours. Lets see if it works well and how good Ferrari service is.
My dealership sent me this when mine "died" and it worked. The battery is supposed to protect itself and never reach zero. Hopefully the image quality is good enough to zoom in on. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Or first I'll try imaging the individual pages. Maybe that'll work. This step talks about holding reset for 10 secs. Second image says to connect to car first and wall second. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You rock! ill review these steps and try again. Ill head to the car this evening and give you guys an update.
I wonder why the damn thing drained in the first place - it has been connected to the charger the whole time.
I think mine was either a door not fully closed or someone kicked off the charger walking around it and didn't know where it went. I remember both of those instances happening when service people would go in the house and I don't get up there for months at a time. Hopefully the fix works for you. The service guy told me when he gave me the instructions that is was either good news and easy (it was), or it was bad news.
And I also think power outages aren't ideal but I could be making that up. Just as far as the connection goes, power coming back on doesn't necessarily follow the connection procedure in that car first, then wall. Conjecture.
I went this am and reset the trickle charger per the instructions. The light did reset so hopefully it works. I’ll go back tonight and see if that worked. If not- roadside assistance.
Success!!! Thank you guys. Resetting the trickle charger worked. Car started right back up. No warning lights anywhere!!
You definitely dodged a bullet, but it’s unsettling that you did everything right and the battery still went dead. That’s frustrating for sure.
the only thing I can think of is there was a power outage? But even then…makes no sense. I won’t have another period where I’m gone for so long so for sure I’ll drive the car more but this sucked. Glad it was a minor fix. Major thx to @Elisesko for the instructions on how to reset.
I went through this drill last year….had it towed to Ferrari dealer. Your best bet is to have the battery replaced. At the dealer they told me the battery would only charge up to 48 percent. Had several messages subsequently I.e start/stop feature - take to dealer..unfortunately Ferrari service told me that after one year they would not warrant the battery. Bought a new one at 7300 dollars!!! Since that time,I took out the light bulbs at the doors and bonnet lights. While in my garage I don’t lock the doors. Regardless whether I drive or not,I start the car each week and let it run 30 minutes. BTW…dealer jump started the car to get it into service bay. A new battery is your friend or you might be stranded at a filling station ect.
