https://www.motor1.com/news/602537/ferrari-recalls-cars-brake-failure/ Looks as if our F430s will have to go to the dealer for the brake recall, which is really just a new brake cap. My nearest dealer is three hours away, which isn’t helpful, but there are worst things than spending six hours in a Ferrari. Surprised 430s are part of this recall as I haven’t seen any brake issues on our cars.
I just did a vin recall search at https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls and nothing: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Note: the recall said "certain F430s". If you had a defective brake reservoir cap that wasn't venting, you or your service provider would have noticed by now I would think.
Here are the specific 430s involved, appears to be the entire production run: RCLRPT-22V536-4846.PDF (nhtsa.gov)
Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : The repair consists of replacing the brake fluid reservoir cap and updating the software in the affected vehicles to provide for a different warning message if the vehicle should lose sufficient brake fluid. Ferrari will send a notice letter to all affected vehicle owners to warn them of this issue, and instruct them 1) to contact an authorized Ferrari dealer to schedule the free recall repair, and 2) that in the meantime, remind them that if the “low Brake Fluid” warning message appears on the vehicle dashboard, the driver should pull off the road as soon as it is safe to do so, and then contact Ferrari Roadside Assistance and get towed to the nearest authorized Ferrari dealer. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The venting of the brake fluid reservoir cap has been modified. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : All vehicles currently in production will be fitted with a different brake fluid reservoir cap and new upgraded software.
I wonder how the displays will be affected. I see there is already a warning for worn brake pads and low fluid on the speedometer. Image Unavailable, Please Login The wiring on the F430 won't allow differentiation between brake pad wear and low brake fluid, so I assume there will be a generic warning on the tachometer display on the updated system (perhaps with an aural warning, if the software allows it). Decided to see this "recall" item. Looked okay to me. Also, no separate part number for the cap: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No there isn’t and shouldn’t be. You don’t want (moist) air getting in. I think thats what this recall is about - a new cap with a diaphragm so that as the level in the reservoir goes down (wearing pads), you don’t create a vacuum. The diaphragm could allow that to happen without introducing outside air. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I believe they will get the same replacement cap as on the 458 recall. Top one in black. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat

1) Can you buy the cap on its own? 2) Don't you want the software update or will you just wait until an opportunity arises to go a dealer service centre?
1,- have to check ..not sure if possible 2 - don't have any rush fir the software update .. Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Anyone else concerned what the software update will change or screw up? I am. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
