Looked it up. Installed on a Waco in 1931 and used in the Stuart light tank in WW2.

Bob- What kind of idiot would install an air-cooled engine in a tank?

    The British kind.

The M3 was called the Stuart I by the British, but with the Guiberson diesel engine fitted it was called the Stuart II. The M3A1 was cashed the Stuart III and with the Guiberson diesel engine fitted it was referred to as the Stuart IV. The sane versions (M3 or Stuart I and M3A1 or Stuart III) had two Cadillac Series 42 engines each.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

We did , also. The Continental R680 . After the war they were modified to be used in the PT series. I remember seeing the "Cont. Tank engine listed on logs.

I believe early versions of the Sherman medium tank used aircraft radial engines as well. All the British tanks used aircraft V-12s; the early ones used a version of the WWI Liberty engine, the later ones used the R-R Meteor, which was a version of the Merlin!
