Over 4500 miles on the MC20 now with a lot of them either at the racetrack road course tracking or on a rally. I’m getting a like the car even more, it’s a really great car!
No problems occasional electronic glitch that seems to go away on its own.
The other day I did have the display screen lock up and I couldn’t get to in freeze! But fortunately I had created an access hole to go to the quick disconnect battery terminal and then the screen started working again. FYI if I didn’t have that quick access hole I would’ve been screwed because you have to take the entire front trunk tray out and all those clips and you need to clip tool. Also it takes about 20 minutes just to get access to the battery terminals.
It never did that before. And because of my access hole it was such an easy fix I’m just going to leave it the way it is if it freezes up again I’ll probably take it to the dealer when I have time.
But other than that it’s been pretty solid! And I definitely have driven the hell out of it! And gotten the brakes nice and hot with no problems other than my pretty blue calipers are now this kind of cool greenish blue now!
Here is a track video from the weekend I took a sheriff friend of mine and he said this was the most exciting ride he’s been on including all the car chases he’s been in. LOL

Last weekend I heard the rumor, that Maserati is considering to stop the production of the MC20 Coupe because everybody wants the "Cielo" and orders for it are flooding the factory. But not sure if this rumor is true....

I highly doubt that as there’s some real advantages of the coupe like the gorgeous carbon fiber roof option, quieter ride, less weight. And a big thing you won’t be able to see the beautiful engine with the Spider. Also I think that looks are better with the coupe.

Given the state of Maserati right now, I won't be surprised if they go where the most money can be made.

All of the coupe orders were sold out quickly, they use the same carbon fiber tub and almost everything else and some people don’t want a convertible. There would be no reason to not offer it.
And can you provide link to this article you said you saw. And I know people who have coupes on order!

Alfa did the same with the 4c. The last 3 years of production were all spider versions.

I think what might be happening is you have people in the queue 2 years in the future with their dealer, they see the convertible, and the next day call the dealer to change it over.

I really don't think they care. Its better to have one model and not two. All they want to do is recover their investment because this car will not make them money. Its clearly a halo car. They will reuse the motor in other models and the gearbox is Tremec so they just need to recoup the tooling of the body, suspension, and interior. After they make their money back they really don't care how many they sell.

If they lose some orders because someone really wants a coupe and won't take a convertible, so be it.

Well I asked you for a link to the rumor that you said you think was true but you haven’t provided it so it seems like you’re just making up rumors or maybe trolling now.
Real car people like to see links and quotes from articles rather than just some anybody saying they heard a rumor LOL
if you did a little research you see that the 2022 car is sold out…..use the Internet it’ll help you:
    From CarBuzz
“The sexy as hell $210,000 MC20 is reportedly sold out for the upcoming model year. The CEO of Maserati of North America, William Peffer, confirmed the first batch of vehicles has been spoken for. "The cars we have allocated for 2022 have all been reserved," he said. "All of them."

Are used to own a 4C Spider.
The reason Alfa stopped selling the coupe is a little complicated and totally different situation than Maserati.
US government made it cost prohibitive for FCA to deal with two car certifications, so just they did the Spider and moved on.
The coupe needed a newer version of side curtain airbags, the spider being a "convertible" didn't need it. The cost was going to be prohibitive to make the major changes to the car for a version that was already reaching the end of its production run.

No problem. But lets admit it. The only reason why Maserati is making this car (like Alfa did with the 4c) is to get attention. Its not to make them money. So don't be surprised if they just shut of the pipeline one day when they feel the halo is no longer necessary.

I don't believe (albeit I wish it was true) that Maserati is seriously going to try to take on Lambo, McLaren, and Ferrari in the high priced sportscar market.

Well, what you prefer or think, has absolutely no influence of the decision Maserati S.p.A. will take. Yes, I am pretty sure all people who already ordered the coupe will get their car (sooner or ...eh...later). Further interest will get the answer "Sorry, out of production. But you can order the Cielo".
I heard the rumor from someone who is very close to Maserati. No link etc. needed at this moment and I wouldn`t wonder if Maserati takes -again- a different strategy.

In any case Maserati has very significant production delays. I ordered my Cielo immediately upon the official reveal (I knew it was coming but wanted to see it first) and my dealer made clear that it will take 18 months before delivery. We shall see!

I'm with you there. Maserati acts opportunistically and always along the profit line. I maintain that the Grecale launch is currently much more important for Maserati than the MC20 coupe...

the Gracale is probably the most important launch in Maserati’s history. The MC20 is the only Maserati built in Modena which has a limited production capacity compared to the volume production plants in Torino and Casino.

Absolutely. Alfa even said so when they decided to make it. They made it to relaunch the brand. It was its only purpose. That's why they sold it for a loss.

It was a bizarre choice for a relaunch wasn’t it!
I’ll never forget my test drive before I bought it the alignment was all wacky, the car trammled and it made all kinds of crazy turbo noises. I didn’t have much storage room not even as glove box. But the carbon fiber tub gave the car an amazing ride and the car felt extremely light and was quite peppy especially on turns. I didn’t even know they made new cars like that anymore….so I bought it :) and had a lot of fun with it

I liked it as well until it started giving me electrical problems. Alfa dealers are just horrible.

The car ran fine but a check engine light came on. The dealer "estimate" was $10K and up for replacing the entire electrical system.

Poor choice then. The Alfa Romeo Guilia Quadrifoglio serves that purpose much better IMHO. Plus other less well heeled customers can get something that looks similar.
I also don't think the MC20 is halo car like the MC12 was. I think they'll keep making this for a while as it gives them the cache they desperately want but it also isn't Lamborghini or Ferrari stupid expensive.
They could have finished that front trunk better though for not that much money. It looks cheap.

Here in Switzerland, new MC20s have been available for purchase on the Internet for quite some time, and there is currently one for sale. And these at list price or even below. I wonder why there are such waiting times in US and here buyers are sought for cars that are in the showroom. You also see quite a few driving around, recently five MC20s came to an event. I saw the first delivered customer model already one year ago. I can imagine that Maserati Sales plays a special game in the USA…
