I know the MKI factory headers with the built-in cats crack, but do the latest challenge ones seem to hold up? Was cleaning in my basement and noticed the box with my "spare" set of headers which I bought and had ceramic coated and was thinking will I ever put them on my 430? This got me wondering if should I just order a set of Challenge exhaust manifolds while you can still buy them for the future.

    Cheers,
    Corey

Interested in selling your spare set? If so, could you send me a message with the brand and desired price?

While researching all the different types of headers available for the 430, I could not find one reported case of cracked challenge headers. I just ended up buying them, basically 600 bucks each. You can't beat that

Where did you get them for $600 each? I keep seeing around $1000 each side plus shipping.

Over 6 years on my 2nd hand (from a wrecked challenge car) set. Still good but my stupid expansion restricting lower brackets were removed at the same time.

Will these headers fit a 360? Do they have cats in them?

No idea on the 360 fitment, but I would imagine the answers no

    No precat.
Obviously, nobody knows for sure, but the general consensus is Ferrari headers crack due to a mix of a few flaws, mainly the rear brackets not allowing the system to flex thus putting a lot of stress on the headers, that mixed with a precat overheating the stressed area usually are the blamed contributing factors.

Ferrari claims a 21 horsepower bump with the scuderia/challenge headers so they are an excellent option for an upgrade from the factory pre-cat headers.

They probably don't get driven enough to crack...

Did the 360s have a variation of these? And I don’t mean the 99/euro no cat oem headers.

'99/euro no cat headers will be simply 360 challenge headers. Same deal as the 430 but obviously the headers are different between 360 and 430.

Had my slightly cracked headers (03/2008) replaced by challenge headers two weeks ago. Also removed both cracked lower brackets at same time.
One cracked bracket was welded by local F-dealer two years ago.
Happy with solution, no CEL yet.

My headers were changed out to challenge headers last month. Volume increase 10 to 15%. Couldnt be happier as I didn't want crazy loud and I have piece of mind with no cats

Were your old exhaust manifolds MKII or MKI or you don't know?

    Thanks,

Not sure yet. I am about to open the heatshield and find out. Am curious about the mark, and where and how much they cracked. They definitely did according to a smoke test.
Also wondering if they are mk1 or mk2.
Most likely mk1, as the mk2's were installed on mid/late 2008 models. They are original and were never replaced.
Is there anyway of telling without removing the heatshield?

Apparently there is a visual distinction between mk1 and mk2. This bit of info came from a different thread:
"Visually the Lambda O2 Sensor is higher up in the centre of the header in the Mk2 version, vs been near the exit point of the header on the Mk1".

Also it can be retrieved from the serial/assembly number of the car:
"new exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters serial number (SN) 157672, assembly number (AN) 74457."
I assume this means all higher numbers have been updated to mk2?

Will check tomorrow, when I have acces to the car, for the numbers and do a visual check of the cracked manifolds.

My cracked headers turn out to be mk2. The assembly number of my car is 76349 (VIN 159136) which is above the first mk2 updated car with AN number 74457 (some say they started at AN 74556 and VIN 157672).
Further the numbers on the flat stamped part of each header are the same, except for L and R, which is also an indication for mk2.
The car has a March 2008 build.

OK so this is a confirmed case of the MKII cracking.
    Thanks,

And fyi the car has 30.000 miles. Relatively small cracks, only noticeable due to smoke test. Smoke appearing from below heatshields.
Now verry happy with new factory challenge headers and no brackets. Great low cost oem solution with slightly louder oem sound!

Yes, the factory brackets were installed up to two weeks ago.
Both were cracked as were both headers.
