How about some more vintage stuff Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk[/QUOTE] Kinda leaning that way. Haven't put in a ton of thought to be honest. Im knee deep in invoices, over runs and decisions for flooring and cabinetry at this point. Maybe a outlaw porsche? if I hit it big- a statement hypercar? If I blow all my money in the build, maybe a Pinto?
Reminds me of putting an AirResearch turbo on my old Pinto wagon back in 73 so I could get across an intersection before the light changed back to red... Best regards, Robert
Been following along and looks like it will be a very beautiful home with some unique aspects. Appreciate the updates and how you are involving and sharing with others ...people that build this caliber of home usually don't do so.
I appreciate it man. I got nothing to hide . I’m just a simple man trying to make it in this cold cruel world. Lol. I’ll share as much as I can here assuming you guys appreciate the posts. Just don’t want to being out the haters.
I have been following it as well, very interesting and amazing to see how it is developing from a mountainside to a finished product.
I’m going to chime in also. Thanks for sharing this. We would love to build something along these lines someday and have even considered the same area. Don’t know if we ever will. If haters show up, I’m thinking the rest of us who appreciate you and the topic will help quash them. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well, I’ll certainly keep posting updates if everyone is enjoy the process as much as I am. Ty kindly.
I say stairs. If the elevator looks like it was put there just to look cool then a bunch of the coolness evaporates. Your garage already looks effortlessly cool.
I’d definitely go with the stairs but, maybe talk with the elevator people and see what would be required to install it at a future date. Maybe something special with the concrete or special wiring or other considerations. It’s a lot easier to do the prep work now and probably won’t add much to your costs will give you the option to add it in the future.
The single person circular staircase can easily be put in after the fact. The only thing that would need to be done is modify the railing to accommodate the door. No other work needed. We are most definitely going with the stairs.
The round tube elevator… ^^ Instead of circular staircase. At least that’s what I think he meant. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Progress is slow. All retaining walls are finally done. Lower foundation starts Monday. Framing soon after. By my estimate I thought we would be further ahead. Such is life.
Our little 9-10 month build has turned into 22 months… Supposedly finishes end of October. I’m sure it will need “just a few more weeks”… Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
My only saving grace is some prices will hopefully come down and now that the retaining walls are done and being backfilled- hopefully the fun part begins where they start framing. I’m hoping for a structure to be up by January. But if it takes longer….oh well….
Prices have begun falling on some items. Some are just delayed - such as appliances. Windows seem very delayed still. But I think you are right that timing is good. Every time we build something (not many), I think of new things to do next time. And it seems we have been too busy to really be in the weeds during construction. I hope things slow down a bit and that we have a chance to build something with all the things we have learned and have the time to be involved more closely during construction to make sure those enhancements happen. I love your place - it looks fantastic and look forward to watching the progress! Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Ty John. I wish I had more progress to post. Hoping things speed up a bit as they start putting in steel framing g and foundation. Right now it’s been a bit disheartening at the pace. Oh well.
Well- making progress. It appears the boring stuff is now complete- meaning - hey guys what did you get done this week? This weekwe moved that big rock from here to there and then move that pile of dirt there, and then moved those small rocks here. Lot prep is officially done- almost 12 months to the day. We started digging November 9th. And in the next few days the lower slab goes in and then the upper slab. Once the slabs are complete- we start steel. I feel like I’ve been saying the same thing for months but it’s officially time to get the pad in place. My hope is things start moving a bit more quickly now. Where the tractors are is the main level of the house. Master bedroom and living room/kitchen and garages. Down below where the steel is the lower level with the 2 kids rooms and guest room. My office will be on the 3rd floor above the garages.
