The Mc Laren F 1 won Le Mans, not just in its class!!! It makes a huge difference, not to mention that the preparation is much less advanced than that of Michelotto !
The McLaren won because at the time there were no prototypes racing. McLaren's class was the top class!
I found the photo, look, that's a fact... SF 90 tire after 10 laps at Le Castellet ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
my track car doesn't have license plates. not sure why we are arguing, none of the cars listed are "track" cars, doesn't mean they are not good on a track. We all have different definitions of what a track car is, mine is that it isnt able to be licensed for street use. =) But this argument is like debating what is a real watch. There are a million different answers.
We just exchange ...because Ferrari marketing has taken up so much space that many forget the reality. Sorry for the off topic
Criticizing anything about Ferrari on this forum will engender severe backlash by the loyalists who are bereft of any semblance of objectivity. Be prepared for the cabal to mount a concerted counter attack with the moderators keeping vigilant oversight.
And - perhaps more crucially - with far less weight to cope with... (in that respect, the 296 will also have an advantage over the SF90, even though not matching the GT3 RS).
I just don't the point in arguing for the merits of the 296 based upon it's track aptitude. Even Ferrari hasn't done this. It's "fun to drive" primarily on the road. More approachable. But I found it luxurious and the E mode makes as docile to drive as any car ever made. It's more of a beautiful, luxurious sports/GT to me. Not a track screamer.
There is simply no denying the superiority of the 765. It represents the end of an era. The 765 is the synthesis of stellar capabilities combined with the pinnacle of driving immersion, connectivity between car and driver and unparalleled exhilaration and heart pounding excitement.
Speaking of test drives ... anyone going to drive the 296 when Ferrari does their dealer tour? I just got confirmation that I'm booked Oct 1st at my dealership.
Had our dealer 296 test drive last month. Came away impressed. Ordered a Spider. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Posted this in 458/488/F8 forum but this might be the better place: " Given the fact a friend of mine is selling his Pista to get an 296 GTB with AF, I called up the dealer and did a test-drive with a 296 GTB this morning. For me the 296 interior feels much smaller than 488/F8. Starting the drive, at slower speeds the steering felt much lighter; I really had the impression of driving a smaller car which was not planted to the road. Acceleration is good and the sound in qualifying mode is really cool. Note though, it's not so raw as the V8 but the V6 has an amusing and fun to drive soundtrack. After a 30 minute enjoying drive I was thinking of ordering a GTS for summer time but.. then I drove back home in the F8 and had an overwhelming feeling. Much heavier steering, more spacious cabin and surprisingly I preferred the V8 "silent" sound. Maybe I should book another test drive to get a second opinion but for now I would stick with 488 / Pista / F8. "
I wish I could drive a 296. My dealership is weird about things like this. You can look but if you’ve not bought a car from them or are buying a car, no driving the demo. When the F8 came out I drove over to see it, and had to practically beg to sit in it. I’ve still never been able to drive a F8. I’ll just keep my awesome and lowly 488…lol
