Unica means unique in Italian. One of one. Seemed appropriate. Whilst the car is still an F8 underneath, I have to say, and Raffaele agreed, the greater airflow dynamics and downforce did make the car behave better at Fiorano. I had just come from setting my personal best in the FXXK Evo at Mugello the day before, so I was immediately on throttle rather aggressively. I have also been on the track before so knew the layout a bit. Also, I think it is just the right thing to make the tires melt on their edges and the brakes have that aroma of usage when you climb out of the cockpit. Thank you for all the kind comments. My joy is also in sharing this with tifosi. Along those lines, I asked many months ago and was granted permission for the car to be displayed to the factory workers this coming week during lunch near their cafe. It is my attempt to show my appreciation for all they do. Also, the museum has asked to show the car for a limited time and I agreed. Forza Ferrari!
This is how the F8 should have looked at the beginning. But at least that car returns some faith in the current Ferrari design departament.
That's very kind of you, respect! Beautiful creation, enjoy it in great health for many many years! Cheers from Italy.
Wow! Congrats Tom! What a stunning SP car! I do not like all SP cars but this one is my favourite! What a stunningly beautiful design! Looks worlds better than the F8! PS: Will you take part with any of your cars at the Passione Ferrari Event which will take place at the Hockenheimring? https://www.ferrari.com/de-DE/auto/passione-ferrari-hockenheim-2022

I’m not going to throw the dealer under the bus, but a conversation I had at Pebble reminded me that perhaps Ferrari could use a different branding or internal code name for Icona cars than “SP.” This new dealership principal told me in front of my new one-off that they are getting two or three SPs but no Unicas as far as he knew. I tried explaining that he isn’t getting any SP and there are no Unicas to be had but mine but he clearly thought I was nuts. I realized later what he meant by getting SPs was referring to the Daytona SP3. The next day a top client told me he wasn’t sure how many of these Unicas there would be but that he knew there would be other Unicas in the future. So he thought SP48 was the one-off in front of him but that Unica was the term for all one-offs. He threw me for a loop on that one. Might I suggest internally coding the Iconas I1, I2, I3, etc? Calling them also SP (special projects) might be technically true but it seems like SP should only be for the one-off cars since they have been using that term for them for decades. Using it for both Iconas and one-off cars had a number of people confused at Pebble including at least one new dealer principal.
The question is, did you have enough self-control to avoid a nasty "WTF ???" expression on your face when he did say that ahaha
On the left, I redesigned the front to better match the original Unica sketches. Image Unavailable, Please Login
