F12 - my first V12

Been wanting a front engine V12 for some time

F car doesn’t work as a daily in Miami, and an SUV has become boring , so I tried to scratch the itch with a roma, but didn’t work

Roma will sit in the garage until I sell it, but I was able to get a black on black f12 from glenville Aston, a one owner car with 11k

My salesman in miami said the F12 is fairly bulletproof , anyone have anything I should look out for ? Perhaps anyone know the car or previous owner? I’ll post photos upon arrival

Congrats. Some common things to check for:
-Sticky buttons - not nearly as problematic as on earlier cars but on some buttons can still happen
-Bubbling corrosion around the rear mesh ducts
-If you can get a hold of a paint gauge to check the paint that’s always a plus
-Battery - the cars have relatively high parasitic draw and tend to go through batteries. If it hadn’t been replaced recently you may want to try to get the seller to.

Congrats! I acquired a Nero F12 earlier this year and have loved every minute so far. Mine has been trouble free except for a clock spring needed replacing behind the steering wheel but I don’t think that is a common thing. Look forward to seeing your spec and hearing your thoughts compared to the Roma.

 

Leaking valve cover gaskets.

Bad brake pedal switch...a cheap part that causes all sorts of false electrical warnings.

 

Congratulations! Keep the factory tender in its bag and use a Ctek 7002. You can get a Ferrari adapter for the plug on eBay. If you’ve driven the car for more than 30 minutes and you know you’ll drive it the next day then it doesn’t need to go on the tender, otherwise, it does. Make sure to get new tires, Id recommend Michelin Pilot Sport 4S if available. Take your time to learn the car, even though all the systems are on in Race mode, Id spend the first few weeks mostly in sport and pushing more and more to see the behavior. Use wet mode when the roads are slippery/ its raining. The car will give you enough rope to get into trouble.

Out of curiosity, why didn't you like the Roma? And what other Fcars have you had?

 

battery- be sure to replace if 4 years old. some electrical issues due to low battery - all cleared evenutally once new battery installed.

 

Congrats!!! Some of the others have mentioned the common issues so I won’t repeat them. Knock on wood I haven’t experienced any of those issues or any issues at all. In 15 months of ownership. I drive it regularly, about 3,400 miles in 15 months. I bought mine certified from a Ferrari dealer and the master tech told me that if I maintain it per the annual service schedule and actually drive it I won’t have any issues. He told me minimum 100 miles per month and I’m averaging a little more than 220 per month and have about 10,500 miles.

On my annual scheduled service during the coolant being flushed and replaced the tech noticed that the thermostat cover had a slight crack that was starting to spring a coolant leak. Not a common issue but the car is 8 years old so some things like that will happen from time to time. They repaired it and that was that.

Take your time to learn how to drive the car fast. You try to be a hero and it will kill you. Phenomenal vehicle best balance of performance, comfort and usability/practicality for a car of that caliber.

Lol, thanks for the candor. I actually used to be a motorcycle track instructor and raced a bit back in the day, so ill be ok. My F8 is similar power and less weight , so it has its own unruly tendencies I’ve learned to adapt to. I put miles on all my previous F cars and my Roma. They don’t sit. My Roma has 900 miles in 8 weeks and my f8 spider 2,800

Noticing the steering wheel non carbon areas are a bit sticky. buttons seem ok, other than turn signals also seem a bit sticky. Any guidance on who and how to correct this?

 

Common problem. There are videos out there. I believe I used very lightly applied denatured alcohol on my Maserati. There was a soft touch feel covering originally applied that deteriorates over time and turns sticky.

 

Some decent photos today after i spent 3 hours waxing and polishing. I had some time without the wife and kids and wanted to do this myself. Was fun in august in Miami.....Whoever speced this car added some really great little details, much better than i would think of
