I called him the day after there were spy pics of the convertible. I was only interested if they made a convertible version. About 6 weeks later I met him for the debut at the Peterson Museum in LA. I'm guessing about a year ago. No idea when I can get a car though.

Okay, the video might have been a bit annoying, but it just increased the need to have one. Once I see some good reviewers get a hold of it and provide driving impressions I'll be 100%, but I am now 99% sure I can relinquish the idea of spending more for a 458. Hearing and seeing this thing in a regular video almost makes me want to pay the ADM to not have to wait 3-4 years to get one. It's been so long since I've been this excited or this serious to get another sports car.

CF on constraint and estimated projected build numbers are Z06 = 10% of all C8s. This, of course, could change due to "plant restrictions".

Couple questions for those of you who are very involved in the vette world.
    1. Do you really think there are that many people willing to shell out ~$150k for a Z06? What is you best guess on waitlist drop out rate?
    2. Surely they’ll ramp up production and keep building them as long as there are pending orders with deposits, right?

I’m not in the Vette world, but I’ve had a C8 and I started following along. They are going to get ADMs of >$50K for aero cars, maybe $75-100K. Regular Z06, $25-50K? Crazy, I know. The regular C8 was a massive leap forward, great car. How many more high revving, naturally aspirated cars are ever going to be built? People are banking this will be the last, and if you have one you won’t regret what you paid- hope that’s true.

I asked my dealership (no ADM) if anyone had dropped off their list and no one has.

I was surprised and a little disappointed; thought I may have picked up a few spots in the queue.

According to my dealer who is one of the top dealers in the country the past average dropout rate for Z06 has been about +or- 60% as many people get on multiple lists to hedge their bets and the natural course of life events that change people's plans.
That being said he also said that the dropout rate could be very different for this Z06.

On track with Z06 laguna seca

In 3rd gear he's doing 103 before shifting. Sounds like a louder 458.

Everyone is going nuts with this allocation thing. My dealer sent me an email about it talking about how their pricing was justified lol.

I'm not necessarily a believer in the 10% bs.

Having large market adjustments will get a lot of Corvette people to never buy. And I think a good chunk of them who waited for the Z06 might say its not worth an extra 100 grand and just get a new Stingray.

GM upped the price of the Z06 to capture part of the suspected ADM dealers would charge. Lots of pissed off people on waiting lists around the country.

My opinion on market pricing is that the market price will settle at somewhere between F430 and 458 pricing. If the Z06 gets too expensive, people will go to the next best thing which I think would be an F430 or Gallardo. Alternatively, as the Z06 approaches $200k, then one can rationalize the 458 (Huracán is going for more than that). At $130k… Z06>F430… $190k+… 458/488>Z06. My guess is that for the first year, as they process the “take my money” crowd, they will probably be $150-190k.

I just hope that after that it starts to stabilize at MSRP or $10k ADM max. At $130k or less, I’ll swap. At $150k+, I’d keep my F430.

I think anyone looking for the performance of the Z06 will not be considering a F430 period. The C6 Z06 beat the crap out of it if your a numbers guy. Plus someone looking a the new Z06 is not looking for a F430 as a fall back. A 458 maybe but that is a stretch too. What you are witnessing is the common mans sports car is no long that and the common man is not looking for a Ferrari of any sort to replace it because the cost of ownership. That is the biggest reason for withdraw. Can afford car barely, cannot afford to ever drive it and insure it.

This whole Z06 madness is frustrating the hell out of me. What ever happened to being an enthusiast and just going and buying a vette?
Are there really that many Americans willing to drop $150K on a toy?
    Really?

I don’t see any frustrated Z06 buyers choosing a F430 or Gallardo instead. Those cars are too old and don’t offer anywhere close to equivalent performance. Plus, the Z06 attracts several buyers that those cars don’t: Vette loyalists, American car loyalists, and fans of factory warranty’s. Another key factor is that the Z06 does not offend people like Italian supercars, nor will it garner the same type of attention. For many, that is a feature, not a bug. It’s one of the reasons I like my Ford GT so much. That car doesn’t piss anyone off. Neither will the Z06. I think you are right about the market pricing. There will be plenty of takers sub-$200,000.

Look at what $150 gets you and then look closely at the Z06. A Grand Canyon separates the Z06 from the other cars in the $150 class.
