Apple CarPlay on centre screen

I picked up my new Roma today and was surprised and delighted (as was the salesman) to discover Apple CarPlay now works (wirelessly) on the centre screen. And the car is a joy to drive. Absolutely love it.

If yours works wireless, I wonder if there was a hardware change. I hope it's just software and an update will work on all years.

 

Wow, that is awesome. Congratulations on ur new Roma. My Porto M is status 70. Any chance the Apple CarPlay is wireless on the Porto M as well?

Wow this is fascinating. Any issues with wireless CarPlay dropping out or is it stable? Can you choose to have it on the main display still? How did you discover that wireless CarPlay was available? Do you have the wireless smartphone charger option?

But where are does 'off' buttons for the AC?

 

It's been very stable so far (but remember I only got the car on Friday). If I'm playing music using Apple Music through CarPlay I can see the details of the current track on the main display. All in all it seems a very good implementation of CarPlay; better than on a Porsche I have.

 

That is nice, currently the main display doesn't show what's playing on carplay unless you have it open. Looks like they really integrated it better, hope everyone is able to get this update.

The full CarPlay display shows up on the centre screen (with Apple Music also displayed on the main screen). When using Waze (or other nav software on the iPhone), that only shows on the centre screen with the native Ferrari navigation map displayed on the main screen. I find it very intuitive so haven't spent much time fiddling with different apps etc. as everything I want it to do it does out of the box.

hahah.... for the cost of carplay on these cars its about damn time they make the integration make sense. How it worked before was an abomination.

Wireless carplay is great. i believe it would require a hardware change though so probably won't be able to be updated on to older builds unless they planned ahead for this.

 

Did you option the wireless phone charger? If so, does it work well while you are using CarPlay?

I just got my roma yesterday and CarPlay is still on the drivers screen... argh !

Does using CarPlay over wireless drain your phone battery significantly? I likely would be using it for music and maps only.

 

Yes, I was at service last week, they did a software update but no carplay on center screen.

I wonder if you need to request a certain update.

 

In other cars I have it does not at all. Shouldn't in the Roma either.

 

I haven’t noticed a significant battery drain when using wireless.

 

I just got a new Portofino and I have carplay but it work only with the USB .Is there anything I'm missing to get it to work wirelessly ?

 

My dealer said the first software update didn't work but they got a new version on Friday. They are doing their Roma demo first and will update owner cars once they know it works.
