The things I do for this community! I have to embarrassed myself inside the "ULTA Beauty Store" and ask one of the sales lady to help me find a certain color nail polish. I did have the empty small container of the extra paint from my 308 when I had my front valance repaired in Rosso corsa. I ask the lady if we can find a nail polish and match the color that's on the empty bottle. After about 20 mins. of findind and searching, we finally found one. It's made by OPI and the color name is "Big Apple Red" The pics shows the result after I applied it and waited 5-10mins. Anyway, this the closest I could find. Hope this help. :)

Hey, while your at it, try the Ole Henrekson line of products. They keep your face baby smooth! I'm more of a "Sephora" person myself. :)

I doubt that paint will last honestly; looks like a real close match though. Why not just have a good shop mix you a tiny bottle of paint and match it?

Actually, I was looking for the Revlon brand but, no matching color. Next I'll try Maybelline :)

The red of my 87 328 is matched perfectly by GM Victory Red, and a whole lot cheaper than a special mix. Might give it a try.

I always get an attack of schoolboy humor when I see the Italian for "plug" which is in the F parts catalogs.

At first I thought that this was the stupidest idea in the world, then I began to wonder if there was genius in the madness. Perhaps, I thought, nail polish could temporarily cover a chip and could be easily removed when a proper solution was implemented. This is the way they patch cracks in the Mona Lisa: removable paint. Genius!

Alas, I tried rubbing a little nail polish remover on an inconspicuous spot on my paint and discovered it removes paint too. Nail polish remover is acetone and nail polish is lacquer. I tried the miracle product "3M All Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (Part 08987)" and got a little red on the rag after the vigorous scrubbing nail polish would require. Didn't seem to meet Louvre restoration criteria.

Any ideas on a solvent that would remove nail polish and not Ferrari paint?

I dont believe its going to be possible to find a solvent that will remove nail polish and leave your paint untouched. If rock chips are your concern, your best bet might be to go with a clear bra, vinyl wrap, or perhaps one of the new rubberized coatings. All are removable, and will do a good job of protecting your paint.

I guess I don't get what your trying to achieve here... Almost every automotive paint store has a hand held computer that they can take out side, place on the vehicle and read the paint, take back into the store, plug into their computer and will print the formula and mix a touch up bottle w/ brush in about 1/2 an hour and around $21 bucks.

FWIW, red on your Ferrari most likely will not be the exact same red on the next guys Ferrari even if the paint codes are the same. Exposure to sunlight can "shade" reds, even with a clear coat. This is where the computer color match system is great because it 99.9 times will pick the factory Ferrari mix and tint it to match YOUR paint.
