I remember last yr, Ferrari of San Antonio had a GTC for 180 or 190k cpo that had high miles (10k plus) I drove there to see it but it was sold. Wish I had bought it. Lol. I wonder before the pandemic what the prices for ff and Gtc were? I’m guessing ff were getting close to the 100k range and maybe GTC were 170-180k. There’s a GTC-T for 260k in houston that I think is nuts for a v8. But in due time these will be lower one day and I’ll get more before electric cars take over :(

I paid ~$270K for my 2018 GTC V12, with a $420k sticker price, in February with 9400 miles on it, it's CPO'ed and has the maintenance plan until 2025. I have put 1400 miles on it so far. As much as I wanted an F12 or a 488, I chose the Lusso so I could put 2 car seats in the back, and I could not be happier. I don't think I overpaid, but even if I did, I don't think they were that much higher than their prices were last year. Either way, I DD the thing and I'm absolutely in love with it.

I think that’s a great price given what the market is. The price is long forgotten after the miles rack up anyways….Congrats

    Lifter:

I am a lifter guy and all of my posts are how the lifter is necessary in all my Ferraris. Excepted the Lusso. I had a lifter on my FF and not on my Lusso and I do not miss it. I have a bad street and a bad driveway but he Lusso handles it like a champ.

    Prices:

Not sure the 12 will go do substantially despite inventory. Is it worth the difference but it depends on your use case. I drive my Lusso daily or in rotation with my other Ferraris. When kid stuff is happening or the need to get stuff and bring it back. The electronics are better, the build is improved ( interior especially) and the ride is better.

    Bottom Line:
If I sold it today I would replace with an FF but expect more repairs and things to R&R in general. The Lusso 8 is a great compromise as it has most of the torque and speed, is lighter and drives in many ways better.

The FF had a drone on highway miles from the four wheel system, a drone which is much less on the Lusso12. No drone on the Lusso 8.

What will I buy when I flip my Lusso. Into a Purosangue 12 I will probably add a FF again as it was more raw and more sound but wont be the highway cruiser my wife and I take to Palm Beach or Naples. I will need a FF as my wife will steal the Purosangue.

Hey all, first post here. I am currently looking at the FF in Edison NJ. It's on consignment, price is at 178k i believe with 15k miles. They offered to move about 5k in price because I wanted more for my trade in, which is a 2018 GT3 (anybody interested>?) They offered for $7500 a cpo, maintenance, and the warranty for 2 years. Does that sound like an insane deal or is that normal for the FF? I feel like the guy misspoke.
The reason why I want out of the Porsche is because my wife is pregnant with our first child. In addition to the added utility of the car, the GT3 is quite loud on the highway trips. Its fantastic at the turns, but just driving say up to Boston from Newport, RI, it's a bit annoying.
My DD is a Jeep Trackhawk, so that's a lot of fun obviously and useful on all accounts. I can't afford the v12 Lusso, perhaps the Lusso T is an option, but the FF is more in my wheelhouse. I have zero ferrari experience, but I can tell you I hate worrying about things like warranty and coverage. I am the guy that buys the extended warranties on a Jeep.
Any advice while I am looking at this FF? I see you guys talking about drone, how bad are we talking? I don't want to run into the same issue all over again.
Everything I read about the Lusso T is that it's a great car, but the passion and excitement of the 12 is missing and the car becomes a bit boring.

    Input welcome
Side note, watch Fourwheeltrader on youtube for analysis of the market, he's decent.

    Welcome to the forum Nick.

Drone? The FF doesn’t drone. There’s more exhaust noise in sport than in comfort when cruising but that’s about it.

I believe that Scott S is the first to have ever mentioned drone. Without knowing his exhaust, manettino, suspension or tyre settings/setup it would be hard to pinpoint where his was coming from but it seems like an isolated case. It certainly wouldn’t have been the 4RM system as it’s inactive at highway speeds.

Is the red one? Just do a PPI. Funny, I just bought one from Boston. I did a PPI and it needs oil change and a brake flush. If this is the red one I’m thinking about it has a 1yr for the maintenance warranty. Just make sure the car has its paper work done so you know what type of maintenance it needs.

Nope. Others mentioned drone during my ownership. If you drive over long distances you’ll hear it (same rpm /speed for distance ). Stock exhaust. Sport . Oem replacement tires stock wheels.

I loved my FF. In many ways I want it back (it’s on the forum still PRESTON) but for my use case as a DD it became dated. Mine was 2012. Loaded but early car. Power warranty and the PTU was replaced. Drone still there.

Keep in mind I daily my 16m to work. Noise doesn’t bother me.

Drone? I have never had any drone from my FF MY16 - I simply don't know how that is even possible with stock parts.

That said, there is one very unknown possible issue with the PTU control unit to the left front of the car. At some stage one of the hydraulic lines might start to vibrate, this will only occur if cruising on the highway at say 90 km/h and engage engine break so to speak (sorry don't know how fast that might be in US miles). It is very easy to hear if one for example use the cruise control at steady speed, and then just taps the brakes to disengage the cruise control. This might, and I only know a car or two who does this, give a sound that could be mistaken for drone from the PTU. Anyways, it is one of the hydraulic lines touching the underfloor cover so to speak. Just get it fixed.

Apologies Scott, I hadn’t seen others mention it before so I thought you were the first.

I guess it’s impossible for you to check now that you don’t have your FF but I’m fairly sure that the ‘drone’ reported by you (and others) would simply have been the exhaust flaps open in sport mode. The car is definitely quieter when cruising in comfort mode rather than sport.

We use our FF for long distance (800-1200km : 500-750mile ) touring and I discovered the difference in exhaust while messing around with the manettino in the cruise. We typically cruise at anywhere from 130-200kph (80-125mph). To me, it’s simply a louder hum in sport mode which makes it more intrusive. I guess it could be interpreted as ‘drone’ but it’s there at all engine speeds rather than a particular part of the rev-range. I’ve had a Tubi equipped F355 so I’ve experienced the difference between loudness and ‘drone’ (resonance which only occurs at certain revs). :D It’s possible that we’re skating around different definitions of ‘drone’ here so I’ll leave it at that.

For reference, my car is 2011, also fully loaded. It uses stock sized Michelin Winter tyres on stock wheels, custom sized Michelin Summer tyres on custom wheels. Everything else is stock.

I guess that if the OP is sensitive to the way a car sounds in the cruise then the best thing is to try it himself (and switch between comfort and sport to hear the difference).

I've heard of the droning several times. Chris Harris complains about it in his video on the GTC and says it was one of the reasons he sold his ff.

Thanks for the referral to the Harris video. He complains about the FF being noisy in the back seats (tyre and exhaust roar/resonance). I don’t know about you but I don’t drive from the back ;):D And when I’ve been in the back, I can’t say I’ve noticed it. And nobody else in the family complains about the back seats being noisy either. I must be lucky and have a good one.

We’re off on a 1,200km (750miles) trip tomorrow. I’ll listen out for it.

In the video he also mentions that he had an early car. It's been interesting as dealer service departments say that there is no difference between an early or later car, but my indie shop says there is a difference in the early and later cars in terms of software and drivability.

I drove a GTC4 Lusso V12 yesterday, road and highway, it really feels like my FF with a bit softer shocks.
About the supposed FF droning I absolutely never heard it once, and I know what is the droning with the low end aftermarket exhausts I tried in the past on my Porsche.

I drove a 2015 on the highway and didn't hear any droning either. Maybe a 2012-2013 issue?

Mine was an early car. Keep in mind I LOVED IT!

And when my Purosangue comes in I’ll look for a late model FF.

I actually wanted a 2016 FF but could find one for less than crazy money that basically equaled my GTC. Which I love also. And it’s funny cause when I was planning cars with my SA I feel like somehow I moved ahead on my F8 purchase wait with the cluster.

I am just reporting my experience. I was not being critical.

And I love the fact the the FF/ Lusso looks are polarizing. Cause I love them.

I expect I’ll have one of these variants til I die.

I can safely say that my particular FF does not drone.

I was also listening out for the 1300-1500rpm resonance reported in another thread and all I could hear was a bit of transmission whine in 1st and second when crawling in traffic - But for sure, no resonance.

    I have a 2011 car with lift.

    That's mine - 2014 with lift.

As this is my first experience of this car I either need to ride in another or get another owner to drive mine.

It is quite tiring on a long journey.

Road noise and exhaust drone for me.

This is road surface dependent and it's interesting seeing owners from different countries responding in different ways.

In the UK the majority of motorway road surfaces create so much tyre roar that I'm having to raise my voice signifcantly to have a conversation with my passenger in comfort mode. I'm having to crank the volume on the Navigation just so it isn't drowned out.

Then every now and again you'll hit a piece of newly tarmaced road surface and the difference is simply enourmous, it's just so much quieter.

I'm going to gradually soundproof as many panels as possible and see what difference that makes.

Everything on the car is standard, no mods.

I agree the FF is tiring to drive, especially with the pano roof (which I love). It’s a fantastic car, but it was never a proper GT with a relaxing drive.

The FF is a fantastic GT, of course short tires sidewalls and suspension travel so very nice to perfect roads are needed. When I'm not sure of the road (or of the weather:rolleyes:) I take my Cayenne wich of course is easier and more comfortable.
