I totally get it and as usual you are absolutely correct - that said, unless this guy is a) a very skilled/trained driver and b) has access to the time/$$ for frequent track days then who cares? 99.99% of people never use anywhere near the power of the cars they own - of the 4 high-end cars I am lucky enough to own (355/458/Hellcat/GT3 Touring) the 355 has the least "power" of all of them by far - and is the most enjoyable/fun to drive in most cases. There is a reason air-cooled Porsche's are generally considered more fun and more desirable than air-cooled predecessors // and there is a reason people are trading 488s and F8s for 458s on a daily basis (WADR to 488s and F8s - they are beautiful, fantastic cars). I can "lunchbox race" all day and puff out my chest that "my Hellcat has 707 horsepower" which is cool - but I have never used all of it for any sustained period of time and if I did I would end up in jail Cheers
My first Ferrari was a 458 and I couldn't have made a better choice. It's got everything you need! And in my case it was very low maintenance. Make sure you buy one with a Ferrari warranty. I would go for a 458 and would consider an F12 for later. Sent from my BBF100-6 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I’m always getting stuck behind 458s. If they would just use the right lane and allow traffic to flow. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
You could not be more wrong. All kids grow up differently. You have to use your brain and not try to me a smartass you have to realize that you arent outsmarting anyone here. When i say i dreamed of owning a Ferrari yes, a 2 year old doesnt know what owning is BUT everytime i saw a Ferrari at age of 2 i would literally scream Ferrari and jump up and down. If i saw one in real life or tv or pictures. I never knew that Ferrari was a car brand i just thought that fast red cars was called Ferrari. I was even too young to understand that it was a brand. So for me that sounds like wanting to own one i dont know how you think. You should rather have a attitude to help people than allways try to make a fool out of them because in the end youll allways look like the fool. I hope you can help me with my question i asked and if not, you can keep your negative comments to yourself. Be aware that enligsh isnt my primarly language.
This makes me sound like a total rookie but i didnt know that the 458 is natural and no turbo. Makes me consider the 458 more!
Thats what ive looked at too because the V8 they say requires less maintenance. Ive also just found out that it doesnt have a turbo so it makes me want it even more! An user here wrote that the V8 are closerr to F1 so last days ive started to consider the 458 more and more. Im learning so much here thank you!
It is arguable there has only been one truly great V8 F1 engine: the Cosworth DFV On the other hand most of Ferraris racing heritage both F1 & Le Mans is about V12
Hey man- Even the true experts on here (I am not one of them) learn new things about Ferraris all the time- No worries Yeah the 458 is the last normally aspirated mid-engine Ferrari and the last one designed by Pininfarina- Both of those virtues add to its appeal and value stability. Interestingly the same day you started this thread another well-written one was posted by a guy who went from a 488 to a Huracan and now going "backwards" to a 458 Spider- Check it out- Interesting original post and comments. Cheers
Welcome! As someone pointed out, you need to test drive both and listen to your soul. After trying both out, and if you're still torn, come back here and let us know. Put another way, your question is, "Which would I like better? Steak or Lobster?" You have to taste either first to really know. Nobody here can tell you which is better for you.
seems trolly but if real then i'd probably go 458, although I've no idea what I'd buy if I was 20 again
