That sucks. Have you been able to reach your salesman?

FWIW- I've noticed on TV for about the past week, various advertising makes the statement that an ordered car has a locked in price.

Went to National Corvette Museum with some friends Friday. I was very disappointed by the museum. I think I could have set up a better and more comprehensive display.
However, I saw some C8s ready for delivery in Hypersonic Gray. I think the color is amazing.
I’m thinking of the following spec, comments appreciated.

    Z51 with aero delete
    Hypersonic Gray
    Red/black interior.
    Midnight gray stripes
Midnight grey wheels with red stripe
    Edge red calipers
(Question: do you know if edge red caliper color matches the wheel red stripe?)

I’m waiting on a Hypersonic 3 LT Convertible with the Jet black interior with red bolsters on the seats. I got a carbon flash stinger on the hood with edge red border and it’s supposed to match the calipers and interior. It’s been 13 months and I was told it’s being built this week. I love the color.

We were in Erie, Pa last week and there was one on display (some kind of raffle) at the entrance to Presque Isle State Park in Hypersonic Gray w/red calipers.

It's the first time I've seen one in that color - it will almost certainly be the color for my next one.

Its amazing to me how much better this car is than the C7. Its like a completely different company made the two.

Similar to what I am thinking for Z06. I like the red rim wheels but I think they are always in constraints and I worry about curbing them. They look awesome though.

Once you get a few more miles on it, will be very interested to hear your thoughts when you compare it to the many other cars you’ve had

I put just over 200 miles on it yesterday driving it through great country roads. Now up to 331 miles total. Hopefully hit 500 on Saturday. :)

Impression: A fantastic sports car that sticks to the road like glue. Handles beautifully. Braking feel is superb (standard brakes). Obviously still not getting 100% from the motor yet but even still has plenty of performance. I love the view out the front, nice sharply defined wings makes placement on road and curves a joy. The technology is first class, and love having “my mode” and “Z mode.” I have exhaust at track setting and it is nice American V8 roar, steering set to sport and it has great moderated feel. The interior is first rate, seats are super comfortable. AC and seat vents keep you cool even with top down. No storage behind seats though, had to stuff a baseball cap behind passenger seat.
I would say it is on the same level of driving fun as 458/488. If I were heading out on a multi-day road trip I’d happily grab the keys to the vette rather than a V8 Ferrari.
It is not as raw and driver-fun as my manual 911 GT3 however. The GT3 is just a different animal altogether.
There is no point in comparing to 812 GTS, cars are from different worlds, with different goals.

In short I love the vette and confidently state that it is a sport car that can compare to any similarly designed sports car in the world at more than triple its price.

As an aside, here in America, this car gets tons of love. Other vette drivers honk and wave. There is a vette “club” out and about on the road. It is hard to define but the vette has personality.
No one waved to me from their 911s though and I passed three of them. Pricks. LOL.

I put my baseball cap in the glove box.

Its definitely more of a GT than sports car. Hopefully the Z06 will solve that.

One thing they sort of "fixed" is the phone charger. Its in a very awkward place and I kept forgetting it when leaving the car. Now a warning comes on the dash when you turn the car off with the phone in the charger. So they keep improving it little by little.

I’d call it a sports car for sure. I have hit some very tight and twisty mountain roads quite hard over the last two days. Even had the little green gear symbol turn on. :) The turn in is crisp, immediate, accurate and the car feels completely planted allowing you to push out of the apex pretty hard. Especially with Z mode and PTM set to sport (which keeps the ESC on, track 1&2 turn off ESC).
Keep in mind I’m doing all this spirited driving with a forced 4500 rpm rev limit, after 500 miles with the added revs and the 33% of torque added back in I predict the car will be a weapon on tight roads.
Weather and Touring mode = GT car for sure.
Z mode (with my settings) and Track mode = sports car.
Sport mode = a blend of both.

Over 17000 miles on my C8, lots of fun road trips, no PPF, no ceramic, and no rock chips. YMMV. I prefer to save that stuff for the Ferraris.

Corvette chief engineer has said if it were his car and planning for a long life he would take it easy for 1000 miles. Actually 1500 miles break in before track use.

That is what is recommended quite reasonably in the owners manual.
    I don’t track my cars.
I’m just referring to spirited driving on tight twisty mountain roads.

I’m now at ~750 miles and the car is a lot of fun to drive as a sports car. I had to do some highway driving yesterday with my wife and with suspension set to Touring mode the car was extremely civilized, comfortable, and relaxing to drive while listening to music and conversating.
