Talking about changing shades with different light, Swaters Blue is rediculous. The mix has blue-green, blue pearl, white pearl, red-violet, and two different blacks. It goes from a light blue to violet, depending of the angle you view it. It took me a month to tweak the paint formula to get a good match when I painted the rear bumper and I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with it.

You did great with the paint match John. I can tell a slight difference, but that's with a flash photo. Not bad at all for a 100 year old :)

Looks super nice to me. I can't see a mismatch in your photos.

One thing I've noticed with metallic paints, is orientation of parts when painting can slightly influence flop.

By that I mean, if you have the paint match perfect but painted the bumper standing up and down rather than horizontal like the quarter it meets up to, it may look different depending on the lighting.

That's why only crazy old men by cars with trick colors that have pearls and transparent colors in them. Normal people by Rosso Corsa which you can match with a computer scan. ;)

I've seen slightly off repainted Rosso Corsa body parts. Personally, I wouldn't lay on rosso corsa without doing a few test samples first. Paint mismatch is one of my biggest pet peeves. I can only tolerate a very minor percentage in difference.

Which do you like more? TDF or BLM?

BLM. I find TdF in direct sun is a bit purply. They're both beautiful regardless.

I think I'd take Pozzi over either though.

I was a young man of 38 when I bought that car. Like I said, pretty easy to match RC.

Not really sure how to describe it...BLM is definitely a sharper blue. TDF is softer.

In the sun I think BLM is more bright blue vs. the softer blue of the TDF...but in the shade the TDF is more noticeably blue from a distance?

I'll take some pictures of them side by side when the cars are together next time.

Yeah oddly enough I'm not a huge fan of TdF....many other Ferrari blues I like much better.
