    Hi Forum,

First time here, I’ve been reading a lot. I’ve been a long time Porsche owner and considering my first Ferrari after taking a drive in an 812. This would entail trading my 991 GT2RS for the SF.

Has anyone made this move? I use my cars on the road and very little on the track (one track day per year). In that context, I realize the 812 is likely to be a better road car but I also love the “fizz” or special feel of various cars and concerned the SF won’t match the 2RS in spite of its incredible motor.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences

Do you track the GT2 RS?

I haven’t tracked the 2RS. I’ve tracked my GT3, much more in line with my skill ans confidence at the limit.

Having both cars in the garage, I would say they are both different natured and characteristics and in terms of owners driving style too. One thing that is not lacking for both is power however the 812 does it with more refinement esp on long roadtrips and nothing beats the V12 sound and response. The 2RS is a v capable track machine but cannot match the class and refinement of the Fezza

Did you drive the 812 or did you go for a ride in an 812?

  6. Just something to consider

The 991 GT2 RS might be the last pure ICE that Porsche makes of the GT2 RS line.

    The 992 GT2 RS might be KERS/hybrid.

Does this mean the 812 would fulfill the track duties of the RS or do you have another car for track duty? I suspect that if you don't have another track car you may want to consider a cheaper track beater in addition to the 812 if you make the swap.

If you have a GT3 for track duties and don’t track the 2RS then I think you should make the swap.

The 812 and 2RS couldn’t be any more different.

If you want a superb GT car that you can track a few times a year, the 812 is an all around winner. We had a Superfast up at The Glen last week, and the guy was throwing it around pretty well! Certainly lives up to its name, more so on open tracks.

The 2RS is far too raw and track focused for me as a daily, or even close to it. Ya, it is fast, however.

Looks like there is some misundrstanding about a GT3RS and a GT2RS,....
One is NA, the other is turbocharged.....

I presume you mean the 2RS.
The difference between the cars is pretty big.
    a turbocharged v6 is a different engine compared to a NA V12.
That fact alone makes for a totaly differnet driving experience.
Combine it with the bigger and heavier weight of the 812 and the gap between both cars becomes even wider.

Having said that, taking a test drive will quickly solve most of your questions.
Do you want a more track focussed, smaller and nimble car.
Or do you want a bit more luxury and soud experience?

It's nice to be able to be in such a position....!
You only live once; I'd go with the 812; just to be able to have had that experience of an NA Ferrari V12 in your life time.
    It's memorable.
